Do you talk to yourself?

I am not talking about thinking things through....I am talking physically speaking out loud to yourself.

For me I find that when I have my ipod on in the gym and can start muttering something or another about my workout to myself....psyching myself up or getting on my own case for something I felt I fell short of. Of course with the music blaring in my ears I tend to speak out louder than usual.

It is always funny/horrifying when I get back in "the world" and see someone looking at me like I had two heads.

Do you talk to yourself? When do you find yourself doing this?

Absolutely I talk outloud to myself... generally when I'm not terribly happy with myself. Things like "I think we can do better than that" or "whats the issue here" My Dad has always chucked the few times he's heard me doing it. Once he ask me if it helped. I said "of course"... LOL

    I don't, no

But I have an employee (who sits outside my office) and she does throughout the day... And as much as it can drive me crazy, today she is not here and it's is making my day too quiet!!!!

Every so often I will give myself hell for doing something stupid. This morning I accidentally dumped the spoon that I was eating my cereal with on the floor. "Fuck you are so clumsy" was what came out of my mouth at 4:45 AM. I can be hard on myself before my first coffee.

I would go insane if I did not talk to myself...outloud. Sometimes I'm the only one who will listen to the whole story and understand what the hell is going on.

Ohhhhhhhhh yes indeed I do....I catch myself all the time. I've done it since I was young -- I think it's the way I think things out. It used to drive my mother crazy.

I have an ex-roommate who claims that I not only talk to myself, but change my voice to answer myself back! He thought I brought someone home that night, but when I got out of the bathroom there was only one of us. I don't think it's true, but it could be.

On the upside, I'm ready for a career in soaps -- I know how to do those soliloquies the characters are famous for icon_razz.gif

I call it "thinking out loud" but for me it's never a 2-person conversation, which could be dangerously psychotic. Sometimes I "talk myself through" a step-by-step procedure I'm attempting, typically fixing something mechanical. For some reason that can help me keep track of what I'm doing, almost like I'm coaching myself.

And like you and some others here, I might do it as an exclamation kind of thing, at a moment of frustration, surprise, or pain. I think it's normal.

Oh, right, you think everything YOU do is normal!

Oh, and since when have YOU ever been normal?

I'm more normal than you'll ever be, scooter boy.

Now, now, boys, no more fighting.

Who asked you to butt in? Two's company, three's a crowd.

Well, fine then! Punch yourselves silly as usual, see if I care. Just don't come whining to me when you're all black and blue again. icon_razz.gif

Now really out-loud, but I mumble to myself a lot during certain situations ( e.g. rush hour traffic with asshole drivers, people who park in the middle of an aisle in grocery stores, etc) My language should not be heard by children.icon_evil.gif

I do it all the time...usually in the morning shower when I am trying to plan out what needs to be done that day. It's not uncommon for me to be like..."I need to pay the phone bill, and lunch plans at noon...."

And sometimes, I have answered back icon_razz.gif

I do it all the time. I try to keep my mouth shut when there's people around though. otherwise they give you this little stare and then laugh as little.

More often than I'd care to admit, but their is something cathartic about it. I can reason out my frustrations (which are otherwise internalized) and work myself through a problem.

Call is crazy, but it always works.
