Think Baseball Is Boring? Maybe a Cat Will Help

NYT: When The New York Times asked readers how to fix baseball, we all neglected to consider the obvious answer: cats.

Seldom does traditional baseball please a crowd the way a renegade feline scampering across the infield can. Few home runs are as gratifying as a groundskeeper futilely chasing a cat who is having absolutely no part of it.

On Tuesday, fans of the Miami Marlins were delighted to stop watching baseball for a bit as a stray cat evaded capture in the outfield.

Giancarlo Stanton, the Marlins’ all-star right fielder, tried to directly approach the cat as it burrowed under the outfield wall. An overconfident Marlins employee tried to pet the cat, who declined the overture and scurried away.

Personally I do not find baseball boring, but it does seem that whenever an animal gets onto the field during a game it is pretty comical, with a few sad exceptions...

YES!! Thank god ... anything to distract from the absolute mind-numbing boredom that is MLB. Back in colllege, I'd go with buddies but mostly to eat and chat it up.

I love baseball. Partly because it's not played by a clock. The strategy and decisions that are made are interesting to me. A close playoff game in baseball is still one of the most tense sporting experiences our there. But i can see how a others see it as slow. I do love it.
