I know there was a recent article about a case in New Jersey where a judge threw out a case from a man who was pictured on a site called "Hot Chicks with Douchebags".

    http://gawker.com/5092144/alleged-douchebag-sues-hot-chicks-with-douchebags

So my question is this.....the guys whose pics are so obvious an testimony to their own shallow vanity and perhaps, self delusion....douchebags or not???

    Thoughts????

    Hmm,

Since when did posing and showing of ones hard work in a gym, and or natural bueaty turn someone into a Douchebags?

I personally think someone on a sight for fitness and health that refuses to post a picture is more of a Douchebag

hahahaha, this was interestingly funny. there is a thick line between a douche bag (more so acting as one) and possessing self confidence; which most of these "models" have. which brings me to my next topic: mr. endurance, why no picture yet alone anything for that matter on your profile?...Is that lack of self confidence being portrayed??

The only guys that think other guys are douche bags based on a photo (posed or not) are the guys that look at the guy and think, "Just Damn! why did I let myself go, I could have looked like that!"

...and I speak from personal experience!

I think people without uploaded photos complaining about the photos of others are douchebags.

I think most of my friends and I work until we are about half dead to look good and stay healthy as the years pile on - and we say "no" to a lot of great foods to keep our abs - so pardon us if we post a couple of pics that show the results of all our hard work and self sacrifice!

Why this question? It reminds me of the time I was running recently - through a park - and this fat slob said, "I hate guys like you". What the hell did I do to him? I was so shocked, I had no reply ready - not even F U.

honestly, when i hear someone make a derogatory remark, most of the time i think about -them- and wonder if it's some particular insecurity about themself that caused them to say such a thing.

I wouldn't generalize or call these guys douchebags, I'm sure there's a small percentage of people living off their looks as models or whatever, who are nice people of normal intelligence.

    the problem for me is,
    1) that profiles on a website w these type of pictures makes me a bit suspicious of whether the profile is real, if there are no "everyday" pics as well.
    2) showing off is ok too, in moderation. and again I just find the bath room mirror shots and other amateur shots more charming than professional modelled pics. to me that's like saying "look I'm actually professionally beautiful" which is a bit pathetic, since beautiful people really don't need to tell other people that they are.
    3) posing... is where the gay man truly reveals whether he's camp or not lol. But that's actually a good thing... as a way of telling if a guy's your type or not... so please pose! do your worst icon_razz.gif

oh, and yes I agree that you shouldn't critisize peoples' pics if you don't post any yourself... one thing worse though, is posting a fake and then critisizing others lol.

i don't have a problem with people posting professional [appearing] photos. we work out with models and they're in a variety of print. in my opinion, the most attractive of them is also the most friendly, charming, and sweetest guy i've met in a long time. stereotypical dreamy russian guy with the perfect hair, perfect blue eyes, perfect skin, perfectly toned and developed body, and he's a dreamy gentleman to top it all off.

just because someone has the fortune to have professional [appearing] shots doesn't mean he's got his nose in the air or he's trying to rub your nose in something icon_smile.gif

I think there is a point where it can be a bit too much. I like to see some real every day (candid) shots as well. If everything looks overproduced it kind of makes you wonder if it takes a lot of work for him to look like that, or if that's what he always looks like. But most of the time I think they're nice, as a lot of guys have said, they work hard for their bodies and should be able to show them off.

I could never deny a hot guy the right to show off his body.

i think they have earned the right to show off too. while pictures can tell a story i usually rely on what comes out of their mouth to determine if they're an ass or not. and yes, people who don't have pictures in their profile shouldn't be getting up in the business of other people's pics. ;-)

You're bringing two separate unrelated subjects into one thread. The Hot Chicks With Douchebags site is a "guido" site with pics of guys/girls from various Jersey clubs and parties.

The guys on RJ (and on other sites) who have professional photos taken, do so because they want to have some good photos of themselves. It's the same reason why families go to Sears to get their portrait taken. Are they douchebags too? icon_lol.gif

Look, some people don't have the magical ability to take amazing self portraits with their own camera. So they hire a photographer to do it. Nothing wrong with that.

Well, I think it's odd to "Glamour Shots"...but I don't think that means there is something wrong with that person - just that they wasted their money, and everyone does that so to each his own.

I'm one of those guys that has the mix of professional and casual photos on his profile.

I've done some modeling for a while and it's a lot of fun, makes you feel good about yourself and gives you some great shots of yourself. Some photos can make me really proud of myself, especially since I grew up with very low self-esteem about my looks.

Although I've done a number of other creative projects, such as writing, web design, and music, I hear the most criticism about my doing modeling than for anything else I've done. Many people are convinced that models are conceited and complete jerk before ever giving the person a chance to prove themselves otherwise.

For a while, I had one of my professional shots as one of my profile pics, and it actually dramatically decreased the number of people who would get in touch with me. I still think they're great pictures so I left them up, and people can still see how goofy I look in the rest of my photos.

And I'm not going to comment on the fact you tried to use the term "d-bag" as the starting point for a legitimate discussion. .

Does anyone really believe that there are not people who appear to be douche-bags in the photos they post online? I am not trying to advocate the position, but i know there is a line that crosses beyond being proud of the work you have done and showing off that work so that people will justify you.

The psychology of working out is actually pretty fascinating for those who wish to examine it. Most people who have flawless bodies have them because they are just like people with anorexia or any other body image disease. They posses the characteristics that have been exhibited in those diagnosed with body dysmorphia and when they look in the mirror - they do not see the same thing that others see.

That being said - if a person chooses to post photos of themselves in order to share, why is it our place to judge them? IF they do it instead to receive adoration or justification that they are hot, why is that our problem?

you know, I was gonna post something similiar about the ridiculous number of people taking the same shot of lifting up their shirt just enough to show their belly button...

...but then I read all the posts about being proud of the work they put into being able to have the body (and the guts) to be able to pull that off...

...and then I thought, hhmmm, maybe the work I'm putting into getting into shape will pay off and I'll be able to show my belly button someday, too...

...besides, belly buttons are sexy icon_lol.gif
