Coming to Boston in a couple of weeks for a short stay and looking for a good all round gym. Some where central preferably with a good selection of free weights (squats and deadlifts) and machines. I have used total performance sports in Malden before but would like somewhere else. thanks.

I used to go to Boston Sports Club when I lived in Boston. They have different locations all over the city. I used to go to the South End one because that's the gay one. That was back in my whore days. They have a decent selection of weights and machines but I usually use the pool and sauna so I don't remember how good it was....you could go on yelp and check out the reviews/pics.
