NYT: Tattoos may permanently alter the physiology of skin in ways that affect sweating.

According to a small, new study, the amount and saltiness of sweat change after skin has been dyed, a finding that might have implications for athletes who ink large swaths of their bodies and maybe even for those of us who sport one or two discreet tattoos (such as the small one on my right shoulder, in case you were wondering).

So tattooed areas sweat less, but what sweat IS produced has more sodium. In clinical, non-exercising tests.

So what's the workout implication? Cramps? Overheating?

Not that I'm worried - this alabaster skin remains tat-free. #badass

I always thought imagining a tatoo on an old bod should be enough to stop anyone.

This statement always amuses me. Without any context it means the same thing to me as "pants are hot," and "socks are hot."

Hot guys with tattoos are hot.
