We have more than 158 thousand members in this site, and the number is increasing every day ..

but in forums .... the community is so small .. the active members are known, very few ... some forums are barely moving and some are neglected ...

I wish there were more people in these forums, from around the world. Just to make these forums more colourful and varied .. for some reason only a small number of members survived in them and kept raising their posts ..

What do you think we can do to incourage more members to participate in forums??

The best way to encourage members to participate in the forums is to mind one's own attitude in the forums. Persuading "new" people to participate is probably more difficult than working to keep the people who already participate in them; hence, the latter is probably worth more effort.

I think participation is always a good thing... but remember some of the reason men sign up here may vary. Some may think its just a hook up site.. another one like Manhunt, then when they realize it isn't for them they vanish (but leaving their accounts still intact). Some may not want to socialize but just want fitness information.

Some may totally realize what the forums are, but many may not. Maybe some kind of additional "confirmation" that RJ may want to send when some sign up with info on the forums and how participation may be of help to them.

I have one or two ideas, but if I were to post them here, we would have the flame war of the century.

But since I started to really blend in Forums I realized that only few members keep it going ... I know them all... I was hoping for something more like... chaos ..

And MikePhill , who cares about war ?! bring 'em on !

EDIT : oh ... and I'd kiss Charlitos' butt ..

I just remembered one guy I chatted with for a few minutes, a few months ago. I mentioned something about the forums to him, and he asked me "what are the forums?"

I actually had to explain to him what the forums were.

Here is a perfect example, Forums like this one.

SO...Who Should We Add to the "Low Life" List?

We've already put the smokers there. I'm sure we can come up with perfectly decent reasons to add the following...........

    Fems
    Mormons
    Steroid users
    Ugly people
    Beautiful people
    Muslims
    Substance abuse people
Guys who are part of that horrible thing called "the gay lifestyle"
Guys who shun the gay lifestyle.
    People who don't recycle.
    Bi sexuals
People who made bad financial/homeowner decisions

I can add more, but I'm sure some RJ guys can do that.

Forums like this makes me want to leave this site and I try not to let them get to me but, at times I wonder why so much hate....."LOW LIFE" Really?

errr... the low life thread is meant to be an ironic commentary on the absurd and arbitrary way that "gay culture" (or any culture) decides on the list of personae gratae and personae non gratae.

I've found people to be pretty ignorant or self-absorbed on here, that's why I rarely post. Not trying to offend anyone, just thought it might answer your question as to why people don't post much.

you won't encourage participation by discouraging long posts

But long post require so much energy to get through when all that was really needed was a yes or no.

Not that give your argument is a bad thing but when it's "Do you think you'll live long enough to see another comet in your life time?" Then there is a huge essay for a response...icon_rolleyes.gificon_evil.gif

most of the forum threads i get involved in aren't blonde sized threads :-> if the OP posts 5 inaccurate facts, i like to rebut with five responses that have enough detail to provide reference or explanation.

quality is better than quantity. usually lengthy responses catch my interest more than short ones. if you want to draw more users into the forums, you need to appeal to more than just the "would you suck off the guy above you?" threads. not everyone is an ADD meat head.

Well I'd like to use the forums more, but they are so badly organised. They need a complete system overhaul....or at least a rethink.

Plus intergrating the forums more into the day to day workings of the site might be a good idea. Something more than the "thread of the week" thing.

I could go on and detail my ideas and the various possiblities, but I won't since I don't feel like it and it's not like they'd be put into place.

I would like to see rep points, do people get banned often? If this is not the case, then it's pretty effective incentive to not contribute absolute crap. Rep points usually encourage on topic, more thoughtful responses.

    His name is Paul Revere
And there's a man that says if the weather is clear
    Can do, can do
The man says his horse can do

Personally, I like it too, but I've learned not to use it much, because people often don't GET that you're being sarcastic, particularly online.
