    Heaven's to Betsy lad.
    Start off with a wee bowl of porridge.
    A full sottish breakfast to follow.
    Spud, or hash brown.
    Bacon.
    A banger/ sausage.
    Mushrooms.
    Baked Beans.
    Egg.
    Black Pudding, and or some Blood Cake.
    Gosh, and I haven't had breakfast yet.
    Footnote : breakfast for me is the main meal of the day; most days.

    Whats 'Heaven's to Betsy lad' supposed to mean?

    A 'traditional' Scottish breakfast would be porridge oats cooked with water and salt.

    A contemporary Scottish breakfast would be square sausage in a Mortons crusty roll or a Gregs sausage roll washed down with Ironbru if your the average person.


    Hashbrowns are American and Scots would only have potatoes for breakfast in Tattie Scones.

    Nope meant full Scottish breakfast.
    I use hash brown instead of a spud. But potato is part of a Full Scottish breakfast, normally fried one way or another.
    I like too make cheese scones too.
    I may also add some Kangaroo too. High in protein, and no fat.
    I n was to grow up with me porridge cooked in salted water. But I like mine cooked in milk, and the salt added on top, when in the bowl.
    Oh yes, start off with fresh juice too.
    Feast like a king for breakfast, dine lime a queen for luck, and pick like a peasant for dinner, is my favourite way of eating.

    Or simply make an egg and bacon sandwich, with a hashbrown.
    That's more Aussie.

    I hate to tell you this, coming from a Scotsman......there is no such thing as a full scottish breakfast.

    You might have been sold the idea that there is such a thing, maybe from staying in a hotel? Or from a delusion.
    But this isn't a real thing,and its not normal to have potato as any part of the breakfast except potato scone.

    You are misrepresenting my culture.

    Lad, Scotland is a nation of many diffrent clans (like the gay communities ), and not one culture of food.. Yes I enjoyed my full scottish breakfasts in Oban. My first introduction. Loved my seafood for dinner too.
    But then, albeit I am a True Blue Aussie. I've also got a long scottish family history. On both sides of my family tree.
    My love of a Full Sottish Breakfast isn't an everyday thing. It's simply a real indolence. Not sure if it's a Sottish thing or not. But I love Worcestershire sauce, with it too.

    Have yet to travel to Scotland, but Irish friends introduced me to their Irish equivalent of the Full English Breakfast, and described it as "a heart attack on a plate."
    It did sausages, bacon, eggs, and toast with marmalade and butter.

    There's also a full Ulster breakfast, and a full Welsh breakfast too.
    Indeed to many they could be a heart attack on a plate. Why I don't eat them most mornings.
    I belive one can even find a full American Breakfast in parts of the States. Not come across them yet.
    Maybe I will up in New England, Maine or Boston?

    Can't but help think of the many people who've done all the right things.
    Ate good healthy foods, didn't drink or smoke, was in good shape, and one day while out for a run, they drop dead of a heart attack, at 40.
    Or while out ridding their bike, and just before they go under the wheel of that big red bus. Think, I should of had that full Sottish Breakfast, or got drunk last night.
    After nursing in aged care for many years. I was to walk away knowing life was about a good time, and not a long time, qulity over quantity.

    Well, I dunno. Since I've been a kid I prefer to eat things that most certified nutrition experts now say are best. Not because somebody on the Internet says it (decades after I established my eating habits), or even because the experts today say it. Just cause I naturally like those foods, and reject the ones said to be bad.

    How strange. I listened to my body, and I guess my body knew best. Anyone else experience this?
