So that's why all these religions are almost neck to neck with Christianity in popularity? Organized Christianity is just a way to control the masses, half of the Catholic church's dogma isn't even in the Bible.

Well, Jesus the person did live back in the day. Whether you want to believe he was somehow related to God or that he was a brilliant scam artist looking to make a buck is the topic that can be debated.

Do you believe that Plato lived? Or Aristotle? For that matter, Buddha? If you believe these men lived and died, why not Jesus Christ? And throughout history thousands, I would say millions, heartily gave their lives because of their conviction that Jesus Christ lived, died then rose again to pay Infinite Justice the debt of our sin, and since the debt is paid fully, salvation is a free gift to all who wish to receive it. Those who had received salvation must have had their lives radically changed. Nobody in his right mind would give their lives to that which is a lie, or just a fable. These martyrs must have had something different.
