Hey Guys~
I'm new to alot of things. The gym, admitting I'm gay, you name it. I've come across a few completely unfamiliar terms on a few sites, and I'm looking for some answers. So, don't laugh. Just answer my questions, if you've got any ideas.

First, I read a guy's profile on another site, and he mentioned that he's not into "PNP." What does this mean?

Also, dumb question number two. I read about "poppers" on here all the time. I'm guessing this is some kind of drug? Fill me in. Legal or not? Dangerous? What's it for? Etc. Thanks...

Poppers = nitrates that make the blood rush to your head, giving you a head rush. Poppers are many a bottom's favorite thing. I call that, and vodka, liquid courage.

PNP - Slang for Party n' Play. Party refers to drug use- most often meth (tina, ice, crank) but sometimes ecstasy (E, XTC, Adam) cocaine (coke, blow, ski, snow), or poppers as well(though the latter is not always considered a PnP item). Play refers to sex. PnP is considered a scene in itself- sex and drugs. IE - Usually leading to long, drugged out sex sessions.

Poppers - Amyl Nitrate. Refers to a small bottle of solvents which are sniffed, usually during gay sex by the bottom. Amyl Nitrate (edited) decreases (end edit)blood pressure, relaxing the anus and supposedly making anal sex more comoftable. Also sometimes known as snappers. (Note: You are rapidly (edited) decreasing (end edit) your BP - this is not a good thing and can lead to heart attacks, strokes, etc.)

IMHO - How many ways can you spell STUPID; RUN, don't walk, away from these.

Hey don't feel bad/stupid schmatticus....I'm with you in the classroom and Im not new in the m2m world. I've always heard of poppers but until i read of it in the drug link on this page...had no idea what the hell it really was!

The term "poppers" goes back to the packaging of this drug in cotton-padded glass capsules. They would be squeezed until you heard a soft "pop" and the fluid would be released into the cotton and held beneath the nose of someone who had fainted as a way of reviving them.

Common street names:
poppers, liquid gold, tnt, rush, stud, stag, ram, snappers, bananas, hi-tech, rave, Amyl nitrate, Butyl nitrate, bullet, locker room

ITJock's entry may be a typo, they cause a rapid decline in blood pressure, not increase. They do, however, increase pressure within the eyeball and should not be used by anyone with glaucoma. They are also dangerous in conjunction with Viagra or Cialis, and can cause death when mixed with either of these drugs.

Not sure about other places, but in Seattle poppers are illegal. If you go to sex shops, they're sold as video head cleaner.

Nitrites could cause a serious decrease in blood pressure, leading to fainting, stroke, or even heart attack. As poppers increase pressure within the eyeball, users with glaucoma take additional risks when using poppers.

High doses of nitrites may cause the rare methemoglobinemia, especially in individuals predisposed towards such a condition. Severe methemoglobinemia patients may experience dysrhythmias, seizures, coma and death.

Just think!! You've gone this long without drugs- don't start. Read the article on pill popping on the front page this week. I have never done drugs, but counsel young men and woman on the week-ends and I am tired of seeing young men in their 20's with faces of men in their late 40's -busted up, bad skin, teeth missing. In this case ignorance is bliss!! Remember sugar hill gang White lines - "and if you get hooked baby it's noboby elses fault so don't do it!!"

A friend of mine was given prescription amyl nitrate when he was circumcised in his mid 20's. He was given a box of small cloth cover ampules that he had to break and sniff when he got an erection. After his circumcision they wanted to make sure he didn't bust any stitches until everything was healed. Since you cannot control your erections while you sleep they had him keep the amyl nitrate on his bedside table.

He told me he used them a lot and his erection would immediately stop and subside once he sniffed the amyl nitrate. He said he would have a very strange flush feeling when he did it and usually have a headache afterward.

In L.A., as far as I can tell, the "party" in "PNP" refers to crystal, not poppers.

Tangential to the topic, but I'm increasingly hearing the theory that "defined abdominal muscles are a sure sign of a tweaker," and hence to be avoided. (Unless you are into PnP, I guess.)
I initially figured that this was just "sour grapes," but I'm beginning to think that it has some validity.

I wish theyd ban poppers they sell them in half the gay clubs in the UK and the air is thick with the smell and it makes me feel utterly shite, I try to avoid the clubs where they are heavily using them while dancing.

Add to that it gives you a stonking headache afterwards!

PSBigJoey, good that you noted the possible fatal interaction of poppers (the nitrate part) and Viagra/Cialis. I had a friend tell me the lurid details of his threesome night out a couple years ago, when one of the other two guys (a couple) went unconscious and they had to rush him to the hospital. Turns out that's exactly what he had done--used Viagra as a party drug and used poppers when they were starting sex.

Back in the 80s, when I was using quite a few substances (I was being very stupid back then), poppers were extremely popular in the gay bars down in NC, where I lived. Usually, you could get them from the bartender back then. The air in the bars was always heavy with the smell of them, combined with way too much Polo cologne, sweat, fake smoke from the dance floor and clove cigarettes. Nasty smell! Anyway, some of the other names used back then for poppers were Eagle and Mile High. It gives you a massive, pounding headache and I can remember actually passing out from them a few times.

I'm curious as to how they get away with selling it as video head cleaner in the states where its illegal? I mean, I know they do that as I've seen it... but you'd think an illegal substance wouldn't be allowed on shelves, even in adult stores...

Anyway, RUN from this stuff as fast as you can...

I'm sorry, but unless it's just a regional thing, PNP has nothing to do with poppers. Lots of people who'd say "no PNP" will still whip out the poppers, and if you called them liars they'd have no idea why.

Thanks for the clarification, Squarejaw. I didn't know if PnP and poppers were connected or not. I just saw both terms on a guys profile and thought, "Hmm. What the hell does that mean?" Ha. Good to know. I've seen video head cleaner in several different shops and etc. over the past couple of years, and I was actually naive enough to think they were just selling audio-visual supplies. Good grief.

I don't think there is anything wrong with doing poppers in moderation. If you have to sniff it more then 2 times during a session, then, you might wanna put them down for good. As for being illegal, I believe they are in all 50 states except florida, ft. lauderdale especially at catalog x or you can order them from canada or europe

squarejaw is right, pnp refers to partying with any kind of drugs, chrystal, coke, ecstasy, whatever.

Is marijuana a PNP drug?

Hell no it isn't. Marijuana isn't hard enough. Cocaine and methamphetamine are THE PNP drugs. The drugs that are used for PNP are all dopaminergic and psychostimulants. MDMA (ecstasy) is the odd one out, but it is also an amphetamine. GHB and benzodiazepines are for rapists. Sedatives aren't generally conducive to endless hours of partying and fucking. Bottom line: stay away from PNP unless you want one of 3 fates: Jail, AIDS, or Rehab. Poppers are dangerous too. the quickest way to end up dead in the local bathhouse that masquerades as a private men's health club is to take a phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitor like viagra with poppers (nitrites)
