Threshold for high blood pressure lowered.

Health experts in the U.S. have tightened
the official guidelines for what constitutes
    high blood pressure--a significant change
that means 46 percent of American adults
will now be above the threshold
    for what
    is considered safe. Hypertension, which
damages blood vessels and causes the
arteries to become clogged with plaque,
was previously defined as 140/90 or
    higher.

    The first number represents the
force that blood exerts on the artery walls
    when the heart contracts:

    the second
reflects the same force between beats.

After reviewing all existing evidence, a
committee of experts appointed by the
American Heart Association and the Amer-
    ican College of Cardiology unanimously
decided that the new cutoff should be
130/80. With that lower bar, an additional
31 million Americans will be deemed to
have high blood pressure. The number
of men under 45 who meet the diag-
nostic criterion will triple; the number of
women who do so will double. Most of
    these newly diagnosed patients won't
    need medication. But the committee
    believes the reclassification will identify
more accurately those at significant risk
for heart attack, stroke, and other serious
health issues, and serve as a wake-up
call for people to exercise regularly, stop
smoking, and make other healthy lifestyle
    adjustments. "The risk hasn't changed,"
co-chairman Robert Carey tells The Wash-
ington Post. "What's changed is our recog-
    nition of the risk."

Of course the study that "recognized the risk" was undoubtedly funded by big pharmaceutical companies that want your doctor to write you a prescription for their latest blood pressure drugs. icon_rolleyes.gif

Of course they give you the blood pressure meds and since getting an erection requires normal blood pressure you won't be able to get it up so you go back to the doctor and tell him your sex life has gone to hell because you can't get a boner anymore and he will say "well you ARE getting older, but we have this drug called Viagra that will make you think you are 18 again, I will write you a prescription. Oh, and btw your Cholesterol is a little high we probably should start you on Lipitor. I also noticed that you checked the box that you are gay have you ever heard of PrEP?"

    I checked what box?
I just looked at my profile to see what you're talking about.
    I'm not gay. I'm bi.
As things are going now, I'll probably be heterosexual any day now. Men aren't romantic towards me, so being gay, for me, is a losing prospect. A man flaked out on me just two days ago but I got all groomed up and went to the movie by myself, anyway.

Get as Close to the Weight for Our Height

One of the books I was reading reminded me that getting to a good weight is more important than blood pressure medicine.

I've increased my exercise/activity, magnesium and potassium.

5 Best Homeopathic Medicine for High Blood Pressure or Hypertension

Cause of High Blood Pressure or High BP or Hypertension

As mentioned at the start of this article, modern day lifestyle is one of the biggest reasons for high BP or hypertension. The modern lifestyle is sedentary in nature. There is little physical exercise in our daily life. We have forgotten how to walk or cycle. At the same time, our food is rich and full of fat and spicy things. Little physical activity and excessive intake of fatty food leads to obesity or weight gain. This excess weight in itself becomes a cause of high blood pressure. To add to that, mental stress is dominant. We are caught in a rat race where it is important to do better than our neighbour. In the bargain we are losing out on our health.
Managing High Blood Pressure or Hypertension

My experience has been that managing high BP or hypertension is not at all difficult. We all know that the culprit is the modern day lifestyle. While we cannot go back and live in the stone age, we can take some steps that can help us bring closer to nature and farther from the modern lifestyle. The good part is that by reversing these lifestyle changes, one can control one’s blood pressure. Start walking daily for 40-45 minutes. Drink a lot of water. Cut down on intake of salty or fried food. Junk food and processed foods should be avoided. One should take raw vegetables and fruits daily. Yoga and pranayamas are very effective in bringing blood pressure levels to normal.
Homeopathic remedies for High Blood Pressure or High BP or Hypertension

In the homeopathic system, the medicines do not have an immediate palliative effect. They take some time to get the body and the various systems back into shape. This is because the stress is on getting to the root of the problem. Homeopathy does not work in a superficial manner. It just does not aim at alleviating the individual symptoms. On the contrary, the effort is to get the body, the various systems and the immunity back to the natural efficient self. Once that occurs, the body and its own innate defence systems are able to get everything under control. This can then allow you to leave a medicine free life. Here I am giving you a list of 5 natural Homeopathic medicines for high blood pressure treatment. I have found these homeopathic medicines to be most commonly indicated and very effective for the homeopathic treatment of high blood pressure.

What I out in quotes is what I figured the doctor would say if you went to see him and told him your sex life had gone to hell after bring put on blood pressure meds. Some of them give you a questionnaire that asks you every thing imaginable including sexual orientation.
