    What's amazing to me about this case is that it's now 2018, and he was first charged with the murders in 2000. The wheels of justice turn awfully slowly.

    I think you misread or mistyped; the murders occurred in 2010, not 2000. Still a very slow judicial process.

    And how odd that the prosecutor's name is Shari Tate - more than slightly reminiscent of Sharon Tate, who was the victim of a senseless murder committed by Charles Manson's "family".

    If I was the victim's family, I'd insist on the guy getting life behind bars instead, just to fuck with the perp's obvious wish to get the death penalty.

    In the past, I was against the death penalty. However, my view about the subject changed with time.
    I don´t know exactly how I feel about it, but I know I´m not against that penalty in some cases. And, for me, it´s all about the law: the jury decision is sovereign.
