It's interesting that this small sliver of North America was found in the Mount Isa region of Queensland, since that area is far inland today.

During WWII, the town of Mount Isa was one of the very few populated places on the overland route between Brisbane and Darwin, where many American soldiers were transported - including my uncle. I think if they looked closely, they'd find those boys left a few more "chunks of North America sticking to Australia" in that region.

Evidently Australia and Canada have more in common besides being British Commonwealth countries.
