Thank you for your Light. This is exactly what I needed tonight to bring me out of my self-induced and irrelevant maelstrom. Thank you so much. The moment in Nacht und Träume when Schubert goes suddenly from B Major to G Major is one of the most divine moments in music. AAAHHHhhhh!

I (surprisingly to me) must give the Bostridge reading my top vote. Perfectly pure. Perfectly timed. Perfectly voiced.

Battle is beautiful indeed. But did the temperature drop a bit? I recall that in my experiences at the Met...hearing her in a role or two.

Renee Fleming...pardon me...Renée...well...did she decide to make a unique statement of some kind with that tempo? Perhaps. The same way she added the aigu to her name. Oh yes, I had the privilege of knowing her and working with her in Aspen in 1983. She did a role simply called Number 2 in Conrad Susa's opera, Transformations, that summer. There are 8 roles in that opera, called Numbers 1 - 8. She lived in the same dorm as me that summer and in the neighboring room was Dawn Upshaw, who gave me the unforgettable pleasure of asking me to play for her in a Ned Rorem recital, as he was in residence there that year. Anyway...back to Dreamland...too slow. They are 16th notes, not half notes. Do I exaggerate? Perhaps. But...too slow.

Elly Ameling. The Queen. Sweet. Beautiful. Precious. Clear.

AHHHH and then there's the king himself, Fischer-Dieskau. Oh my...how beautiful. I was honored to get to hear him do several concerts at Carnegie during my years in NY...the most memorable being Winterreise with Gerald Moore. Fabulous! Does he hover just ever so slightly (yet deliciously) below some of the pitches?...on the first uttering the word Träume? Maybe. But he can. And is his reading in honor of Bernstein? I celebrate his 100th this year by seeing Candide at Santa Fe in July. Can't wait.

Now...where are you as you sing This Little Light of Mine? GORGEOUS. I'm talking about YOU. GORGEOUS...FABULOUS.

And thank you from the bottom of my heart for singing your Light. For sending this tonight (it is the middle of the night here in Australia). For bringing me 'Round Right!

'Tis a Gift to be simple...'

I now go to bed with Focus Music playing. Such a beautiful gliding around that is. It is truly Nacht und Träume for me now..............................................................

    Hi Harbor Fighter,

The person singing "This Little Light of Mine, I'm Gonna Let It Shine" is someone I took a couple of voice lessons from when I loved singing so much. We lived in the same dorm also when he got his undergraduate and graduate degree in Music.

I'll respond more to your wonderful reply.

Thanks for the attempt to vote for me. I was MOTD within the past year...they make you wait a year before being eligible again! Thanks so much. We must talk more!
