Unbelievable, this white supremacy is now hitting the employee resource groups (ERG) icon_eek.gif

Threats of violence. Nasty slurs. Personal information posted on a website purportedly beloved by stalkers.

Diversity advocates at Google — including the Mountain View tech giant’s highest-ranking inclusion officer — are being targeted by a small group of colleagues in an internal culture war, according to a new report.

Since August, when a memo by since-fired Google engineer James Damore ignited a nation-wide furor over its critique of diversity efforts and suggestion of a biological basis for the gender gap in tech, screenshots from Google internal discussion boards have been leaked and posted on far-right websites including Breitbart and the blog Vox Popoli, which espouses white supremacy.

That’s according to a Jan. 26 report in Wired, based on interviews with 15 current Googlers, who “accuse coworkers of inciting outsiders to harass rank-and-file employees who are minority advocates, including queer and transgender employees.”

In notorious internet cesspool 4chan, diversity advocates at Google had their names linked to their social media accounts, and phone numbers and addresses — along with previous names of transgender people — of at least three employees were exposed, according to Wired.

“Google site reliability engineer Liz Fong-Jones, a trans woman, says she was the target of harassment, including violent threats and degrading slurs based on gender identity, race, and sexual orientation,” Wired reported.

“More than a dozen pages of personal information about another employee were posted to Kiwi Farms, which New York has called “the web’s biggest community of stalkers.”

Top Google executives have failed to respond assertively to complaints about harassment and the exposure of personal information known as “doxing,” employees told Wired, although they said the firm’s chief diversity and inclusion officer, Danielle Brown — also targeted for harassment — has been supportive.

Google declined to comment to Wired, citing ongoing litigation, a probable reference to a lawsuit against the company filed Jan. 8 by Damore, who claims the company that sacked him over his memo discriminates against men, conservatives and white people.

Diversity supporters at Google blamed a “small group” of colleagues for the alleged harassment, and Wired noted that “the combatants represent just a sliver of Google’s more than 75,000 employees.”

Conservative, white male Google employees are filing HR complaints over conversations people are having about diversity

Conservatives at Google are complaining to HR when colleagues talk about diversity issues, according to a new Wired report.
    • Employees told Wired HR is being "weaponized."
    • The story comes a few weeks after former Google engineer James Damore said he's suing the company for discrimination against white and male conservatives.

Conservative employees at Google are filing complaints to the company's HR department in attempts to shut down conversations about diversity, according to a new Wired story.

The Wired story says conservatives at Google are engaging in conversations about diversity and then complaining to HR that the comments from their colleagues are offensive to white men and/or conservatives. In effect, these employees are using Google's own HR policies against it to prove a point.

    From the Wired story:

Meanwhile, inside Google, the diversity advocates say some employees have “weaponized human resources,” by goading them into inflammatory statements, which are then captured and reported to HR for violating Google’s mores around civility or for offending white men.

The Wired story also charts how far-right groups online are exposing the identities of LGBTQ Google employees, a practice that started around the same time former engineer James Damore wrote his infamous memo on diversity at the company that led to his firing last year. Damore is suing Google for discrimination.

First, there is no such agenda, neither among liberals nor within the gay community. Only a straight, Right Wing troll would believe and spread such a lie. What's true is that some years ago a small group of gay activists took the approach of involuntarily outing closeted gays who had taken hypocritically hostile public positions against the gay community.

That outing practice, never widespread and often strongly condemned within the gay community itself, has diminished in more recent years. And only a very few hard-core militant gay activists ever advocated that ALL gays should be outed.

I, for one, have always said that every LGBT should make that decision for themselves, considering their own circumstances. Although it's also my belief, partly based on my own late-blooming experience, that most gays will be happier and more fulfilled once they start living openly.

But then it's surprising you don't know any of this yourself. And stranger still that you're trying to sell such a false and hurtful narrative here on a gay site.

Oh, and BTW, what's been happening at Google isn't just outing, and it affects other groups besides LGBT. It's a broader "doxing", the revealing of all types of personal information online. The targets aren't exclusively gay, but even straights who support diversity in the workplace. As opposed to upholding White male supremacy.
