    Halloween is upon us.

Other than slasher films, what would you suggest to watch to help put you in the mood?

Give me three suggestions, mine are...

    Sleepy Hollow
Devil's Rejects (okay almost a slasher film because of the gore, but such a scarey freak movie)
    Nosferatu

i LOVE Nightmare before Christmas, and include it in my top 5 movies of all times, however its too cute for me to be scared or creeped out by it.
    lol
it was the first movie i ever bought for myself when I bought a dvd player, and I used to watch it every night drunk off my asswhen i got back home from the bar in Montana.

    Good times, good times
Okay maybe not, I was deep in a depression, but oh well, STILL LOVE THAT MOVIE!

    The Exorcist

What Ever Happened To Baby Jane (Just cause i like crazy people)

    Bram Stoker's Dracula

Hellbent (decent for a gay flick)

The Covenant (DUH eye candy and witch craft!)

    The Craft

The Queen Of The Damned (Only because the late Aaliyah plays the creatrix of the vampire race... which is creepy since she passed right before the release of the film, and Anne Rice loved her as Akasha)

    8mm (creeeeepppyyyyy psychological thriller)

the new Halloween. There is just something horrific about crazy kids.

OMEN III The final conflict is snore but Sam Neil is hot!

The original Night of the Living Dead is an awesome movie! My mom was nice enough to share that gym with us one year when I was in maybe Junior High.
Lordie did it freak me out.

I may just be a big kid, but it's the animated specials that get me all excited as Halloween approaches. The best ones:

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

    Garfield's Halloween

    The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
(The Rabbit Ears version is much better than the Disney version, but the Disney version does have its merits... namely Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters.)

There's also a great Halloween scene in the MGM musical Meet Me in St. Louis.

Personally, I don't buy the whole slasher film connection to Halloween. Halloween is something entirely different than blood and gore. It's a whole lot more subtle.

I think the gore and such isn't really frightening as much as disturbing.

I think Halloween is fun because it's the fear of the unknown. It's what might be out there, which would explain why my favorite halloween movies aren't necessarily the most graphic.

I tend to have a weakness for movies about nuclear mutations, or dark cult activities, the fringes of society stuff.

    Briar:

Have u ever seen Nightbreed? It's not exactly scary but it's very about the "fringes" as it were.

The story it's based on "Cabal" by Clive Barker is really good too!

Scream (not the sequels, but the first one), Blair Witch Project (because it's funny, not scary at all), Carrie, The Grudge (not the one with SMG, but the original Japanese version).

    Here's a few others:

"Witches of Eastwick" is a good funny one.

    "Duel" was Spielberg's first movie

"Haunting of Hill House" - just the original 1963 B&W adaptation of the novel; watch it in the dark!

I don't like horror movies. I don't know why, just don't like them.

For me if you have seen one, you have seen them all.
