VANCOUVER - A Vancouver illustrator said she's overwhelmed by the social media response to her cartoon depicting a victim of the recent school shooting in Florida.

Pia Guerra's "Hero's Welcome" shows a young girl leading the school's football coach Aaron Feis by the hand to meet a crowd of other people killed in school shootings.

Feis was one of 17 victims who died when a former student opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., on Wednesday

The assistant football coach and school security specialist was killed while trying to shield students from bullets.

He died a hero and he will forever be in our hearts and memories.

What really strikes me is: "So MANY of us want to meet you."

Yeah, many. Of the dead slaughtered by Repubican legislation, funded by the NRA.

Yeah, that's the Republican mantra: Pray & delay. "We need to gather all the facts first". Yet those facts take years and deliver nothing we don't already know.

And then Republicans do nothing, returning to business as usual as funded by the NRA, because people will have forgotten or be less highly motivated. Works every time after these massacres, probably will again with Parkland. Another Republican & NRA success!

Thoughts and prayers are not enough.... again. Columbine, Sandy Hook, Virginia Tech. After all those tragic events, thoughts and prayers were not enough. Parkland Florida 2018 was yet another example of profoundly flawed identity politics. Democrats who represent urban voters primarily without guns, and Republican voters who primarily represent non urban voters with guns, are separated by a trench that disables them from taking any meaningful action. And that trench is funded by the NRA. This trench is filled with school shooting victim's blood. But get ready. The current generation of do nothing politicians will do nothing yet again. But the students themselves are on the rise, and they care about meaningful change, instead do nothing identity politics. I am a gun owner, and I want meaningful change that will protect the lives of our students in schools. And I don't think some gun overlord will come and take my gun as a result when, not if, this change finally occurs. I am with the students of today, so they can have a school free from the fear of being gun downed in a school while trying to learn like I had when I was growing up. If our children are our future, they deserve a future with gun laws that make sense, free from identity politics.

So why didn't Obama solve the problem when Democrats controlled Congress?

Why did Senate Majority Leader and Democrat Poster Boy for the NRA Harry Reid block gun legislation after Sandy Hook?

Why do Liberals refuse to address their progressively violent Television, Movies and Video Games which adversely affect children?

Why did Obama select Hunter and Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan who bagged herself a deer on a hunting trip to Wyoming with Justice Antonin Scalia?

Why did Liberals select "Annie Oakley" for their 2016 Presidential Nominee:

In 2009 Democrats controlled the House, the Senate and the Presidency. They could have dealt with gun control then and there, especially given the popularity of the President.

I'm not buying for a moment this sanctimonious BS that gun violence can be laid squarely at the feet of the Republicans.

Regardless, most of the blame for doing nothing falls upon the Republicans. How members of Congress who have not been loudly and consistently fighting for decent gun control face the public without abject shame frankly astonishes me.

Oddly, that statement can be applied to *anything* we restrict - but we put restrictions anyway. Yes, you can drive a car without a licence, but we generally insist you get one. We forbid robbing banks, knowing that people will do it anyway. We ban the sale of any number of products because they are dangerous, but if you *really* want to, you'll find a way to get them.

Saying "well, he'd find a way" is throwing your hands in the air, saying you can't do anything and forgetting that if it was even a *little* harder to do, some people would either give up, or cool down before achieving their goal.

And the tired NRA supporter argument of "you can kill with a knife or baseball bat too" is moronic. The next time someone can kill and injure hundreds of people from 32 floors up with either of those, or walk into a school and kill 17 students in *seconds* with those, I might consider it valid. You could try do something like this with a handgun or shotgun, but you'd have to reload early on - and that's the time to jump the gunman. The AR-15 may not be "officially" an assault rifle, and people argue it's for hunting - but who *really* needs to be able to pump that much ammo out in a short time if hunting- what are you hunting, Dragons?

    Stop posturing. All of you.

This is not a Red v Blue thing... The NRA has bought enough leverage on both sides to have made this such a non issue in the Capitol for so long.

But they need to see the wave coming... All these pissed off students... Some of them will be voting in November... Most of them will be voting in 2020.

This influx of folks pissed off at lawmakers on both sides are ripe for making 2018 the year of zero incumbents.

Somebody is going to need to do something if anyone has any intention of saving their seat in November...

The usual argument when Reoublicans are cornered with the facts: "They all do it".

Actually no, they don't. And Democrat politicians get pilloried on this site regularly, and in other media, for being too Liberal on this gun control topic. Democrats have been fighting for years for stronger gun controls. Where have YOU been? Possibly buried in Fox News?

So that when you claim that Democrats are as gun-friendly as Republicans, and responsible for this national problem, we know you're a troll. At least you make it easy for us. Now check with your supervisor at the troll factory what you should post as your next reply.
