So why is it that if u send an email to a guy they don't reply?

I understand if your busy but your online and u see u have emails so wouldn't it be common courtesy to reply, even if your not interested in the guy just say,"Hey man i'm not interested" or just something...

Also, if the email that is being sent has nothing to do with sex and is just wanting to get to know the other guy( is there ne harm in that), if there some unwritten rule about emailing guys, if so please let me know...

Because they are not interested and dont see any reason to start something....even to say "no thanks" ...when they are not interested.

You got your reply...in the form of "no reply"

Cross them off your list and move on.

I'm honestly gonna have to agree with Caslon on this one. It has happened to me a number of times. At first it would bother me, and I would get all defensive about it, but now I just say to myself "eh, whetever" and don't think about them again.

I too agree with LOLcat-man Caslon and Freakyninja-something-or-other. I usually email folks to start a conversation but if they don't reply back, I just let them know just say, "no thanks". By doing so it would show you're alive and have some SORT of manners. Then it's off my chest, I move on and hopefully that message gets to that little hamster they call a brain.

I think Caslon summed it up right.

Some guys have their reasons for not replying. I'm not saying it's ok to throw courtesy out the window, but it's just the way some guys are. Don't take it personal. Just move on.

I can add to that and ask this...

What about guys you've had a great dialogue with for a little while but then they stop responding completely? You have to wonder if you did something wrong...

Nah, what's wrong is them. Unless, you really did offend them then, send them an apology letter or try to figure it out what's the crime. You are trying to be friends after all.

If there's no reply, their not worth your time. I mean, we have to make time for masturbating you know!

in my opinion, it is rude TO REPLY if you are not interested. because even a reply is showing a sign of interest, whereas if you have none, then you are just sending mix signals. why would you want to hear back from somebody that isn't interested in you anyway?

I've never really understood why anyone would expect someone to respond to just say "not interested" or why anyone is bothered by a lack of a response....it hardly seems worth mentioning. When I send a message to someone I'm putting the ball in their court...if they don't want to play, that's just fine. I take my ball somewhere else icon_smile.gif I have no need for an explanation. I'd really rather them not waste their time typing a response or anymore more of my time having to read it.

Hmm you only have one ball? Interesting. I'd still play with it!

no response is easier than "no thanks." the rudeness gets the point across because trolls, faceless profiles, and others interpret "thanks" as leeway to start a conversation about why "no thanks" was sent their way. very seldomly do i respond to faceless profiles and never to completely picless profiles. seeing a guy's face helps me to discern a lot about his character whether or not others can infer character traits from one's portrayal of himself or not.

It's also possible (in some cases) that they APPEAR to be online, but merely have their computer on with a RealJock window open in a browser. You send mail, they don't reply. Until next Tuesday. Be patient...perhaps your prince will come.

    Ahmen.
It's just an Email, not an opening to a marriage proposal.

I can't imagine NOT responding to a friendly note.
Reminds me of those "popular" girls in jr high who got boobs early....they got really picky. Now their butts have zipcodes and middle age is lookin' rough & lonely.

I agree with Mickey. Some people do not check their account for mail every day. I check because I love the threads (well, most of them) icon_wink.gif There are many here who have never posted but have an active profile! I do reply to every message I get. I understand that some guys here get a ton more than I do. Good luck RMario and welcome to the boards!! icon_biggrin.gif

There has been many a tirade that was started just by doing that
Do you think that even half the guys on here wouldn't angrily answer back if someone answered ....

    Sorry, but not interested?

Some guys don't check their emails regularly (I'm not great at it, myself), and some simply can't be bothered to reply to all of them. Don't take offense, just move on. Besides, you never know when someone's going to respond. Write them off until they do.

    They don't respond because:
    1. they're not interested.
    2. they're away from the computer for long periods of time.
    3. they get too many emails and only answer the most recent email.
    4. they falsely assumed you said something that bothered them.
    5. they correctly assumed you said something that bothered them.
    6. they realized that they didn't want to start a friendship with someone who's too far away.
    7. they're fickle, flaky, erratic, etc.
    8. realize that you don't want to hookup (regardless of whether this was ever discussed, or even a slightly realistic expectation.)
    9. you suddenly don't (or eventually no longer) match the fantasy they have of you.
    10. they're totally lacking in common courtesy.
    11. they don't have a lot of free time.
    12. they have incompatible or diametric interests.

There are times I don't reply to people, but I do tend to reply. Especially to someone I'm already in conversation with.

When I don't reply it could be for any of several reasons. I'm busy, I'm not actually at the keyboard. Something you said in your original email made me very disinterested. I looked at your profile before replying and decided we've no common interests or I really don't match what your profile indicates you want. Et cetera et cetera. And, I am one of those silly Linux users that leaves their browser running for months at a time without restarting it. I also fetch my mail automatically. So just because your message appears "Read by recipient" on RJ, doesn't mean I have actually read it.

Just because someone doesn't reply to you doesn't mean they are lowlife, scum, not worthy of your time, etc. If that is your opinion of someone simply because you didn't get an instant reply to your message then it's far more definitive of -your- character than theirs.

p.s. those of you with [nearly] blank profiles, one picture of one square centimeter of some unknown part of your skin, etc - i.e. faceless nameless unknown persons, are very unlikely to get replies.
