A little oversimplified and ambigous to say the least. I understand the "good message" in this piece, to strive to be your best based on your own creativitity and aspirations...

The problem is, depending on age, background, understanding and perception, this differs with all people. Someone in their 20's can't judge
someone in their 70's or 80's.... I would have been happier if this clip had been a little more positive. Anyone could base their behavior and justify it based on a message like that.

A bit over the top and over simplified. Unfortunately some people who hate do not do so because of a lack of love of themselves or lack of confidence. Just the opposite. They hate because that is what they truly believe in and that is how they were raised. Those are the hardest people to change. Matter of fact the only thing that changes hatred like that is time (people with attitudes like that die off).

I agree though that it is important to be oneself, and to accept the fact that some people will hate or dislike you for no apparent reason.

I liked it when you said that even if you do conform and live your life the way other people want.... people will still hate you.

You can't win by conforming to what other people want. You've got to work out who you are what you value by yourself. Easier said than done.

Betcha after this there's going to be an explosion of people posting vids in forums where they're topless just to get views while they rant away on nonsensical views that's important only in their tiny little worlds.

Fakers and posers are a dime a dozen.....especially online.

Sometimes a person, on the inside, is insecure, selfish and basically a turd. But he/she has learned all the code words and philosophies to make them appear smart, enlightened and a good person.

And there is no shortage of sheep to eat it all up.

These are the people who walk around all day with a smile and say "Have a nice day".....and admonish the people who don't walk around like grinning idiots and who prefer to be real.

Reasons why this video DOES NOT suck:

The background is simplified and clean, no trash or personal things to detract from the foreground image of the guy.

The room is open and airy. There is window open providing a fluent breeze.

The lighting is perfect. We can see him and it is not creepy computer light or a huge desk lamp making him glow like casper. I guess a combination of ambient light and a little computer light makes him a part of the environment apart from drastically conflicting with the environment.

The guy is adorable. Sorta like a young Sting, yummm.

The background music adds to the atmosphere he has created and is suited to the environment. He could have gone wrong here by playing the music too loud or choosing offensive rap/metal, but the music is calm and collected like himself and his message.

He is not avoiding the camera, he's reading something. I liked how he'd read something and then look at the camera and add a bit to it of his own. Sure it was a bashful look at times, but so cute also.

    He speaks clearly.

His pronunciation mistakes made him seem more personable, like this was spontaneous and not something he's been obsessing over.

He's not being too serious and is funny at times.

He has an accent. I think accents are precious and create a lot of leadway if someone isn't the perfect speaker.

Either he's a good actor or he really is feeling what he's reading. At itmes he'd express something nonverbally and you could just feel something when he does it. What that is, is up to personal interpretation, but some emotion is there, which makes it very interesting to ponder his motives.

What he's reading is motivational and he does not name or call out any group, his target audience is ambiguous which makes his speech more effective. If you hear it and feel it applies to you, then you are the one it is for. He does a good job here.
