I can't believe this happened. I was just in the gym working out (arm day), when I heard this bald guy grunting and moaning during his workout. He was beside me doing some triceps extensions with the cable machine. And after each set, he would make all of these really heavy breathing noises. Then he'd start swinging his arms around and around. He must have been working out pretty hard because sweat was dripping all down his bald head and onto his face...and basically all over his body. At one point, I turned my back to him, and still heard all of that grunting and heavy breathing...and THEN I felt something wet on my arm. I looked and saw all of these wet spots on my arm. I was totally disgusted. I don't know if it was sweat from him whipping his arms or spit from his heavy ass breathing. But really, is all of that grunting and extra stuff necessary??? Has this ever happened to anyone else?!! Sheesh!

Often times, I walk by the cardio machines and I see a POOL of sweat on the floor. And some hardcore sweat drippings on the control panel. I really wish people would have the decency to clean up after themselves.

As for someone's sweat flying on me.. Never happened to me. But I would notice right away. And I would let the guy know right away. I really don't care how big or small the dude is, I'm gonna have some words with him. icon_evil.gif

Once I was in the gym locker room getting changed for a workout and I intended to weigh myself before putting my shoes on. A douche bag steps out of the sauna, gets himself soaking wet in the shower, then without drying off, steps right on the scale before I got to it. He didn't drip, he poured water all over it. I had to ask him to dry it off and of course he mumbled about it while he did it.

What are these people thinking? F-ing Meatheads!

These are some gyms I keep hearing about on these threads.

At my gym, it is just the opposite, people are always cleaning up after themselves.....and they didnt even sweat.

I got "sprayed" once.....but it was with the cleaning fluid. A lady was cleaning the elliptical behind me after she used it and had a bit of a poor aim, I guess.

Also, it is against the rules at my gym to make such loud grunting noises....or to clang weights....etc.

    Regarding Caslon's comment.
I agree, people often wipe using a cloth/spray when they didn't even sweat. I suppose they are trying to kill the bacteria going around, MRSA - but you would think they would spray the equipment BEFORE they use it not afterward. Go figure.
The gym where i go allows people to "drop" the heavy wts. It is usually the 20 y/o kid who is trying to impress those around him. Truth be told, if you cannot control the dumbell wt, you have no business lifting it to begin with.
Ya, those who grunt really are annoying. When i am maxing out a lift, i to sometimes let out a ...................minor grunt but some guys seem like they are constipated or dying.
The other thing that i never quite understood was having the spotter litteraly yelling at you to complete the rep - maybe it is a "straight" thing.

Hmmm....you sure her aim was poor? I'm thinking you might be a little naive there Caslon! Maybe she did hit the intended target but the cleaning fluid just wasn't as effective as she had hoped! LOL

I think, at the gym, because sweat splashes from strangers are not what you expect in that situation, you were grossed out...

In other situations, I bet, getting covered in sweat from a grunting and moaning man would be quite alright for you? icon_redface.gificon_lol.gif

But seriously, at the second gym I joined a few years ago, I noticed how few of the clients cleaned up after themselves. A month later, I came down with a stomach virus. Hmmmm. One day I saw a guy blow his nose into one of the drinking fountains so I started going to a different location. It was better although I did reach under a bench to adjust it only to stick my hand into something rather viscuous.

Oh no she didn't! You should have told her that if she is cool with the nasties, that she's nastier than you.

I'm glad I don't have to go to a big public gym to work out. I do that at my judo club, where we're all just as gross as the next one. we know eachother and we're used to getting sweat upon, so we're not too delicate (not unhygenic either! lol).

So I really don't think I'd enjoy a workout around a bunch of annoying strangers... and I don't like too many rules, cos I'm used to being the one who makes them LOL

Judging from all the stories people tell, it seems the way people in the gym feels is: everyone else at the gym is annoying (at least all the strangers are) and they can't follow the rules.

nothing unusual about that... people just have a private sphere they want to protect... just too tense an athmosphere for my taste.

I'm not sure that is something you want to complain about publicly. I dated two guys from the gym that were Sweat Nazis, and you know what? BOTH of them were the worst sex partners I've ever had. I'm just saying......

That being said, my gym has Purell hand sanitizers all over the place, and I carry my own with me all the time.

Just imagine that you and the guy that sweated on your are are in the UFC cage. Might make it a bit hotter and less disgusting.

I know when I use equipment, I wipe it down before I use it (just in case the previous person didn't wipe), and I wipe it down again AFTER I'm through with it...It seems like some people feel the need to only wipe it down before they use it and that's kinda gross, especially on cardio machines.

@ judoguy: you have a point; but he was out of shape and overweight...definitely don't have fantacies (or experiences) with that "type" of hott, sweaty guy...P.U. lol
