I have had this feeling all my life that I was meant for something.... like I was meant to.... start something.... or lead something big. I wasn't sure what it was or when it would even happen, but I have felt that way since I was 5 yrs old.... And recently the feeling has gotten so intense I feel like that something whatever it is... is about to happen.... has anyone else ever felt something like that?

Well did ever think that if you acted on that feeling you would have done something great?

    Hey BJJMMAFighter,

Yep , Ive felt that from time to time over the years. Here's the most recent.

Was downsized in '02 from a great career. At a loss, got into volunteer care. It came to me in the form of an ex co-worker. She brought her Mom to our house and asked if she could live in the suite (we never rented it out, but made an exception and we gave her back her rent when we realized how ill she was).

Her Mom had cancer and was terminal. We told her she could die at our home. Eventually she did. Then there was another, a neighbour. And another, a friend's Mom. Finally something randomly bad happened to us and we moved - out to the coast and closer to my Mom.

We were only here a week and Mom became terribly ill. She ended up with repeating pneumonia and then open heart surgery. How interesting, to have enough experience by now to figure out what some of the Docs didn't. To have the skills to navigate the health care system and its occasional cracks to get Mom better help and then have her stay with us for 6 weeks while I rehabilitated her and helped her convalesce.

I never thought I'd ever bathe my Mom, for example. The Docs, Mom says, are more than impressed. Her health has vastly improved. She's running about town now and enjoying every day as much as she can.

So was it all coincidence or was something larger at work. I love mystery so prefer to think the latter.

Well it is why I am an art major, and why I fight. It is the only two things that feels right in my life... like this is what I am supposed to do.... But I am not sure what to do with them. They seam like platforms

Yep, I am the same way. Although a pessimistic explanation could be that we're egocentric beings and don't want to imagine ourselves doing mediocre, boring, static jobs the rest of our lives.

An opimistic outlook would tell you to put yourself out there and see if anything comes your way! I prefer the optimistic one myself. icon_biggrin.gif

I was meant to inherit huge sums of money. If only I could find my true parents.

If he's nice I'll let him have the Magellanic Clouds. Probably just the smaller one though.

Yes, but I'm sure, that my alternate life of fame and fortune would in the end turn into a nightmarish, twilight zoneish life. A prisoner of my own fame and peoples' labels (yep, I'm one of those notorious unlucky people) .

Sure I like to sing... Yes I like to act, But I fucking HATE musicals. I'd only take the parts in musicals to make ends meet as a struggling young entertainer. But soon it'd escalate, agents and fans demanding more. Impossible to change direction, and ultimately forced into a life absorbed with cheezy songs, costumes and hopeless plots and dialogue...NOOOOOO!
Then I'd have to start drinking, but wouldn't need it to vomit.

Boy AM I glad I didn't go down that road ! whew

don't be presumptuous, young man. i never said i didn't act on it, and i never said i didn't do anything with it. i simply said the sensation passes when you're 30. that's about when you realize that you already were great and you're finally able to appreciate it, whether it's recognized on the global scene or not. humility sets in after your 20's.

oh, and muchmore, i've been 24 for so long that i'm thinking about being 23 next year for the variety. icon_lol.gif

See it's stuff like that I was talking about in my story... scary right!?

Disney animated musical! See that would seriously cause me a depression, that would need harder drugs than alcohol to numb.

Aaaawww... I did it for you.icon_wink.gif

Seriously though, I can't say much in terms of whether or not we're meant for anything. I think the most we can ever do is simply do the best we can with what we're given and, if possible, make small improvements thereon.

Personally, I can think of no higher admonition than: "γνῶθι σεαυτόν - Know Thyself" Once someone is able to do that, life tends to get a whole lot simpler.

hahaha well thats funny. I've always had this feeling of wanting to be a super hero. Not for the powers but for the helping people.... I guess it was why I started to train in MMA so that if I ever needed to stand up for myself or help someone else I could
