Once I meet an instructor in one of my training course who claim he do a one month cross country cycling across the country (I am from Malaysia). This guy do it for a celebration for his 50's birthday and even write a book about his experience and preparation for this long marathon. I have even heard of people cycling from Europe to Asia, Malaysia to China and all this incredible adventure.

I have browse thru internet of American couple who cycle thru rural French and Italy and that certainly something I plan to do someday. It there anyone here that have done long distance cycling. I have done all kind of motorcycle long distance riding but never cycling. How about sharing you adventure?

look up Adventure Cycling Association. thy have all the info that you want as well as maps and where to hang out and stay, eat . You name it . People do the ride across the U.S all the time it is a very common thing in the cycling world . And you can do it for very little if you camp out . Good luck!

Do you have any specific questions? I did a 5000 mile (8045 km) Atlantic to Pacific bicycle tour across the US, camping out along the way.

Outdoor,

Godness, that a long journey. Not a question, but admiration . That are some serious cycling. How long do you took to finish this thing ? I was fill with wonder about the other guy who did 2000km cross country cycling. He even post his adventure in website, constantly talk about it and write a book/article on his success . I guess his effort is nothing in comparison with yours. How do you even have an endurance and motivation to pull such a stunt is beyond me. Congratulation, you are an inspiration.

It all comes down to a life marker. You want to accomplish this adventure. I wish you the best.
I know that some of my life markers would be:
1. college
2. travel the world
3. cycle 400km

The third I am working on.

I reccomend doing a bike tour. Someone will have a vehicle and carry your stuff and all you need is a bike, water and snacks. My first bike tour like this was about 1500 km, it also incuded my first century (a 100 miles/160km and 120mile/193km days). I don't think I'd want to ride that far with paniers.

I've also gone 'bike camping' and hauled a trailer along behind which was a pretty nice 60mi/100km day.
