I have been doing 30-60 minutes of HIIT cardio 5 days a week for a month now...

But, now my knees are hurting.

I do all kinds of cardio: stairs, bikes, treadmill...

What OTHER things can I do to burn massive calories without affecting my knees?

First, I would suggest that you foam roll your illiotibial band (ITB)...See other forum posts on this subject.

I think you should hit some multi-joint movement strength training in a circuit. Usually you can get through a 6 exercise circuit 4-5 times in an hour.

Also, I've started a new circuit style with my clients called suicides...you might try this:

    1. Pick 6 exercises for different body parts, some basic and some more intense

    2. Number the exercises 1-6

    3. Do #1 then rest. Do #1 and #2 then rest. #1, #2, #3 then rest. And so on til you do all 6.

    4. Then I reverse it. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, rest. Then 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, rest.

Hope this makes sense and I hope it helps!!

You want to be doing low impact exercises, jogging is the worst for you knees. Do cross trainer, bike, swimming.
Rowing is a great one too...

Thanks for the advice so far.

I'm going to STOP the treadmill alltogether due to the high-impact nature of running and jogging. I will stick with the bicycling and add swimming. I also plan to add yoga to my weekly routine and perhaps the circuit training.

    I appreciate the responses!

Hey, what do you all think about Jumping Jacks. Been doing them between sets at the gym lately- to keep the heart rate up and add some calorie-burning while doing my lifting.

People in the gym tend to stare when I do them...but, I don't really mind that.

    Any opinions?

Do burpees instead of jacks. They'll look cooler. icon_biggrin.gif
