Earlier today, a "large truck" collided head-on with a car containing Zimbabwe's new Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai, and his wife, Susan Tsvangirai. According to current reports, Ms. Tsvangirai has died from her injuries, while Mr. Tsvangirai was only slightly injured. As you may know, Tsvangirai was the opposition candidate who won against functional dictator Robert Mugabe in the Zimbabwean national elections.

To what extent do we / should we suspect that this was no accident, but rather assassination attempt or intimidation attempt?

If evidence points support such suspicions, what will / should this mean for Mugabe's continued reign?

I would have to wait until more information surfaces before i make up my mind.

but it wouldn't surprise me in the least.
i just wish people would pose this kind of suspicion and criticism towards western leaders and politicians who are equally guilty of these kinds of political assassinations:

ex: Dr. David Kelly, killed by the British government in the lead-up to the Iraq War.

Given the political history of the region, hard to write it off as an accident. That's not to say it's not possible, just a tremendous stretch of the imagination.

Traffic fatalities are much more common on the continent, but I agree with maintaining a healthy suspicion until the facts point one way or the other.

Looks like he's okay, despite losing his wife in the collision:

Apparently, it was a U.S. aid truck that hit them.
    Official probe is being requested.

I'm curious as to your feelings on Paul Wellstone.
