So, I just got back from seeing The Watchmen at a local Studio Movie Grill (bad food but some hot staff). It was good movie and not just because of Doctor Manhattan’s dangly bits. (He had a nice ass too.)

There is some subtle gay content in the story. In the flash backs two of the original watchmen were a gay couple; Captain Metropolis and Hooded Justice. Ozymandias is also rumored to be gay. Supposedly in a scene where you see Ozymandias’s desktop there is a folder that is labeled “Boys” but it flashed by quickly and I didn’t see it. The only obvious homosexual contend was the lesbian couple, but I think The Comedian had some leanings, I can’t see a straight man living alone having a huge phallic sculpture on his mantle.

    Anyone else see it?

Yes, and I enjoyed the movie. The critics have been lukewarm toward it; maybe they thought it should have been a 5-hour miniseries (as Terry Gilliam wanted to do).

Since I'd never read the comic, the story was a fun, dark surprise. I felt like I was morally in sync with Rorschach all along.

With the CGI they're almost there (with Billy Crudup). The gross movement looks good, but the fine motion (lips, muscle twitches) still looks a little botox-ed. Anyway, I appreciated that the character was swinging pipe.

and it was swinging, haha, it made me laugh a little. I liked the movie more than I thought I would. I got some of the gay subtones, especially with Ozymandias. When I saw those upsidedown purple triangles above the elevator shafts, it was enough to make me say, hmmmmmmmmmm. (I know in real life they are pink, but also in real life nixon still wasn't president) I didn't see the folder on his computer marked boys, but apparently some people have. I was a little slighted when Rorschach had said Silhouette died because she was a victim of her own deviant lifestyle, then it cut to the image with both loves dead and the words lesbian whores smeared in blood above them.

Yes I definitely saw the folder marked "BOYS". I hadn't heard of it before I saw the movie last night so I wasn't looking for it, but to me it stuck out almost as prominently as Doc Manhattan's big blue cock.

As for Rorscach's "deviant lifestyle" quote, it shocked me a bit but then I remembered that to an outcast like Rorschach, ANY sexual relationship - straight or homo - would probably be considered disgusting in some way.

was wondering if anyone knew about how they did the body of mr manhattan? was it completely cgi or was someones actual body. I loved that they included the nudity....I think the obscurity of male parts is ridiculous anyway....I though it looked pretty good, haha.

Anyway, just wondering whos body it was, if it was a real person or not.

They had a real actor that they replaced with a CGI figure. I think the actor said that he wasn’t that big, in real life.

Billy Crudup acted in all the scenes wearing a motion capture suit. The suit was also covered in blue LED lights so he actually had a blue glow about him that would show on his surroundings. He was then animated after the fact, using his movements and expressions to capture the performance.

Been wanting to see it. Now I will :-) I was listening to critics - not always a brilliant idea.

In my town they edited out the big blue penis... he's wearing black briefs through the whole thing. Anyone else experience the censored version in their town?

The female characters were very thin, at best being sidekicks. Especially at the end. We know what Rorschach and Owl each think about the compromise... but did what's her name even have an opinion?

    Are you serious!?

Can you provide any corroborating evidence of this censorship? I have trouble believing this could happen in the USA without someone raising holy hell about it. Yet when I Googled "watchmen censored Charlottesville", I found nothing...

You're right. Honestly, it's very close to the comics.

Watchmen was a deconstruction and critique of superhero comics. IMO, the Silk Spectre roles were intentionally eye candy as they often are in comics.

According to Wikipedia, Dr. Manhattan's body (in the film) is based on Greg Plitt's body.

I noticed the black briefs in some shots but other than the funeral scene he was naked in most of the shots, it even swung when he walked, haha.

the physique does look similar to Gregs. I think they may have enhanced the glutes though, haha... Greg has a nice butt but I dont think its as nice as Dr. Manhattans. yum!! Wonder if it would taste like blueberry, haha.
