San Fransisco (the straight people are super friendly, the gays just stared and looked at me funny in the Castro) Portland, Oregon or Seattle, Washington (both beautiful in the spring) Chicago if your up for a colder climate with amazing museums and nightlife. If you're up for something a bit more rustic, try Maine or other parts of northern New England. Denver and the mountains isnt really great til late may. San Antonio and Corpus Christi are favs of mine, but South Padre is kind of a college thing...

Delhi and Taipei are two of my favorites.

/I can give you more info if you like.
//Delhi: awesome history, decently modern, and men holding hands- which is just funny to watch, because they are staight.
//Taipei, easy access to great hiking, you can eat street food- don't try this in Delhi, and the city ends up being a good halfway point between the developed and undeveloped world.

I'll second Portland, Oregon...was just there over New Years.

But my fav city is Rome.
To this American, the whole place is historic and beautiful.

And it's really easy to get around w/o a car.

I've stayed in a reasonable hotel that overlooked the Forum. Another time a place that was next to the Vatican -- could see the dome of St. Peter's outside my bath window.

Bonus: the men are sexy things and there's a gay scene.
