There was an interesting theory that the more older brothers you have the more chance you have of being gay! (John Barrowman documentary on BBC.) Something to do with the womb building up a resistance to testosterone after each pregnancy (even miscarriages count).

So just wondered - do you have any older brothers?

How do you find they differ? It seems very true for my own family, my oldest brother is 'cold'/selfish, with my next brother being more sensitive/compassionate. And me? I'm a big softy deep down even though I might appear to have a harsh exterior lol (and gay of course).

I've also noticed the same in another 3 brother family - how weird!

Older brother... he's produced all the grandkids, but all girls.

I think mum still hopes I'll forget I'm gay one night and knock up a woman and give her a grandson

    youngest of identical twins.

My bro and I have massive amountsin common in terms of interest - heck, I've realised most of my hobbies and great passions haven't changed since I was about ten!

We fight like cats and dogs due to the old "whose top dog" thing, mind you, my brother is more right wing than me. I think he identifies himself in things that I am not, if that makes sense. Im gay, moderate, liberal christian whereas he is straight, right wing, conservative christian.

Older sister...she's str8 but pretty tough - maybe she absorbed all the testosterone? Kidding - no older brothers here, just younger brother and he's super str8.

I am the youngest and have 5 older brothers (and 3 older sisters). There is an 11 year age difference between me and the next oldest sibling. My oldest brother has what I would say to be "cold qualities", all business, things are cut and dry, impossible to talk to. He is significantly older at 65 years old. The rest of us have more in common, but we don't hang out much.

None. But have three older sisters. Have a younger brother though, and he's straight, AFAIK. My brother is the brasher one, and a bit more secretive of his emotions.

I know another 3 brother family, with one older sister. Their eldest is the responsible and thoughtful one; the middle, the dumb oaf; and the youngest, the emopunk. icon_wink.gif

I'm also in this category, but the youngest is from a different mother so one would assume the "chain" would be broken, but I get the feeling at age ten that he's already gayer than I will ever be.

(Before I get flamed for "gayer", I didn't care about men until around age 18. I think he'll reach that point far before I did.)

I'm the oldest of four boys and the only one gay.

I'm also the only one that didn't have a life problem in early adulthood with drugs, relationships, money or religion.

I read about this study and think it's a load of crap.

Only one older brother and I'm the only gay one. I have a cousin who I have been close to and he appears far more gay than I.... however he isn't, he and his wife just had their first child.

I am the oldest with 3 younger brothers and 3 younger sisters. Two of my younger sisters are twins with one of them being a lesbian. I am close to all them except my youngest brother who is very businesslike with career and money being his top concern and my lesbian sisters twin who is going through a religious fanatic stage and appears to be drifting away from the rest of my family who are very close knit.

I'm the oldest. 1 younger brother.

I don't fit the critieria. However there is another study that says if your mother had a lot stress during her pregnancy - there's a good possibility of having a gay kid. I DO fit that criteria. My mom chilled out when my brother was born. For my circle of friends, I've found that's been the case for the 'first' borns. (not quite a scientific study).
