The first Australian openly gay male athelete/diver to win an Olympic gold medal at the 2008 Summer Beijing Olympics.

He should deserved what he's doing, why being a gay is shameful to others?

Oh by the way guys, in case you don't know him....

The name: Matthew Mitcham which I found his ( Biography here ) and
    Got some photos here

    and on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Mitcham

This gonna be a 2 thumbs up! on him... You're the best Mitcham!

I know there are more athletes in the world are hiding on the closet, why don't you show to the world and be proud of!

    this is an easy question..

would you be willing to give up earning tons of money for doing something you love to do?

would you want to risk your safety?

i can only imagine that this is especially true for team sports....

I feel bad for jocks who have to stay in the closet. Why ask, "Why dont you come out of the closet?" Direct that energy towards society for making gay unacceptable.

For those like myself who are interested in sports, and especially out gay athletes, the website outsports.com is a great place to visit.

Here is an article about a Purdue University swimmer who set a record for the 50 yard freestyle. What is even more impressive is his scholastic achievements. The guy can speak seven languages at the age of 22.

That's a major exaggeration on whoever reported that's part. He might have near native fluency in one, intermediate level in another, and then just remedial reading knowledge in the rest.

    Nevertheless, his achievements are great.
