a regular patron of my favorite coffee shop in this gay friendly area of new orleans that i live in commented on the sight of my bf and I hugging and kissing on the sidewalk out front.

he said that we looked to him "like the poster board for butch gay america".

i was mildy amused and enormously pleased by his approving remark.

That's a great compliment. We need more people to find reasons to compliment and be nice to others without wondering what's in it for them. Kudos to you and your boyfriend for being boldly unashamed to be affectionate with each other!

It's the affection that I have come to miss so much.

Congrats to you, I'm glad you felt comfortable enough to do that....

I did a thread a couple of months ago about a gay couple walking down the street, holding hands in Council Grove, KS. I was stunned to say the least.
    Nobody stared, why should they?

Glad to hear you got the compliment, I'll keep that in mind when I visit N.O.

What made you decide that this was a compliment? Just curious. The person probably meant well, but I didn't actually see any complimentary words in that statement (unless you like it when people call you butch...I'm not necessarily trying to take the love away from you...heh)

I remember being young and bold in my 20's. walking around with one of my gay friends, holding hands around the City of Melbourne. never was a thing said to us, pos, or neg. When ever we seen a cop standing on a CNR. We would hold hands, to make a statement. Never got a reaction.icon_biggrin.gif

This was during the time, of the ending of the dark ages, when police raids still existed, and a threat of bashing was still high too.

Funny but not an action neither of my husbands would participate in.

Imagine the compliments if you had humped him right there on the sidewalk.
