According to Maggie Gallagher"at the National Review:

Is it mere coincidence that this resurgence in illegitimacy happened during the five years in which gay marriage has become (not thanks to me or my choice) the most prominent marriage issue in America — and the one marriage idea endorsed by the tastemakers to the young in particular?

I recently blogged abuot this with some choice thoughts if anyone is intersted. What a silly, silly person.

wow this is really astoundingly stupid.

But... if she´s right we should work out how best to use our powers.

Anything we want to do STOPs in the straight community...

Hmmmmmmmm... what would be more likely to cause people to have kids out of wedlock, the concept of gay marriage or years of BushCo's abstinence only sex education? Yeah, it's gotta be those damn homos...

You gotta love illogical thinking. As the people at work keep telling me. "Jonathan stop being so logical."

The rise in children born out of wedlock (how can a baby be illegitimate) could be due to the increased number of young people that are in the baby boom echo generation (Generation Y).

Oh my god. I had no idea I was doing this! I am so sorry children. I promise to mend my horrible ways.

Please, my fellow sodomites, wont you consider giving up your foolish quest for civil equality and man-ass? Think of the children.

We have the power to raise tsunamis in Indonesia, hurricanes in New Orleans, plane crashes in Holland. It should follow that we have the power to increase teen pregnancies as well.

This is true... but every time a same sex couple makes a commitment or a citizen asks for equal rights God kills a LOLcat....

Number of babies had out of wedlock going up.
Prominence of gay marriage issue going up (according to Maggie Gallagher).

Both going up, one is causing the other. That is the fallacy she is making which i was referring to in my blog post.

and of course the sane conclusion to draw is that society is changing in its construal of the role of marriage or something similar...

Hey we could turn it upside down: it´s the higher rate of children born out of marriage that is actually causing same sex couples to seek legal partnerships, possibly to provide stable two parent homes to the poor children who are being failed by their biological parents. Same logic, just doesn´t fit with anyone´s political agenda...

    Hey Delivis!

Fun topic. Yes, Maggie Gallagher is a true thinker.

She'll be slammed for this soundly by many bloggers.

I think this is the article you're citing?

Note this topic in the National Review:

    http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=MGQ2ZWQyOTM2MzExYmMyNmViODUzZTFkYTQ0ODlmZDQ=

From that tool Jonah Goldberg: "All I know is what's up on Drudge. Howard Kurtz is reporting in tomorrow's paper that Maggie Gallagher took $21,500 from HHS to promote Bush's marriage proposals. I'm a fan of Gallagher's and I'll withhold final judgement until I know more of the facts. But, I have to say it's really, really disappointing even on the level of appearances — which do matter."
