Yeah, it's sad. They're pretty tubby in my town too.

I've worked with a couple of ex-fire fighters and the reality of their jobs was mainly hanging around and taking it in turns to cook for each other and then eating.

Of course, this might be biased because one of them was a fire fighter at the airport and the other was a city fire fighter. We just don't have too many crashed planes or building fires around here.

    I'm not shocked at all.

Look at the average diet for a paramedic/firefighter.... they are on the go a lot... especially paramedics. Fast food is convinent. It is sad.

Hell, the majority of the country is overweight... Why wouldn't firefighters have the same percentage for obesity? I'm more entertained by obese policemen and gym teachers. I appreciate irony.

i've dated two firemen and they turned out to be liars and players, as well as being self-hatingly closeted for fear of their 'brothers' finding out- i don't trust the lot of them any more, unfair though that may be.

im guessing when you say "brothers" you are talking about the brotherhood of firefighters. I wouldnt be to quick to put down firefighters because of your own bad experience (people are what they are regardless of the job). It is a high stress job and it has certain stereotypes that can make it hard for a gay firefighter to feel comfortable coming out. But thats a different story since this topic is about overweight/obese firefighters. Ofcourse there are overweight firefighters, but there are fitness requirements and if they dont work behind a desk then they must meet those in order to work. they are placed on light duty if they cant meet the fitness requirements, that usually shakes them up in to losing a few pounds. The biggest problem that faces firefighters is food, which is in its self based on personal decisions.

But to restore your faith, alot of firefighters are in shape. check out their calenders or google their company sport teams. my dads station for example is big on rugby and soccer.

i've given up on the firefighter fetish. i've almost given up on the cop fetish too. i've never met a fit firefighter, and i've met only a small fraction of cops who were still taking care of themselves. i'm gonna just stick to the generic jock fetish - that seems to be broad enough to not mire itself in disappointment.

    edit:
chizzad, right here in my own town of charlotte, is a firefighter. and he's like the #3 most hotlisted guy on this entire site. how could i forget him?
