i don't see the problem.... special olympics probably DO bowl lower scores... its like saying 'wheezing like an asthmatic' -its OK to single out groups for their character traits when making analogies, as long as its not intentionally hurtful.

ppl are too hyper-sensitive these days. jeez

Ya, that was unfortunate though unintended.

Today will be fun. I can't wait to hear the hypocritical conservative masses crying about respecting people with developmental disabilities.

I'm sure Coulter and the rest will condemn him to hell for what he said.
I'm sure he didn't mean anything and will no doubt apologize for the remark.

Yea. he shouldn't have said it, but I dont think its a judge of his whole character, though I agree Bill O'Reilly and the likes will tear him apart cause they are assholes.

I hope he's preparing his response to the nutbags as follows:

"I'd like to apologize to Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and any other member of the handicapped community if I have offended them with my remarks."

I nominate McGay for official Whitehouse apology writer!

As an amateur apologist, I'll have to bow out gracefully, I'm sorry to say. There are far more qualified apologists than I could ever hope to aspire to be, regretably.

    Yours in contrition,
    McGay Hussein

I don't see why. He was on the show, on the set? It wasn't a satellite feed from the White House? He took time from his schedule to travel and be there on the set, including all the costs associated with his travel and security for what purpose? To sit and chat with Jay Leno? Roll your eyes all you want, but it sounds like a huge waste of time for someone with a lot more important things to do.

Do you think it's a good idea for anyone to spend every waking moment focused on their job? That would speak of obsession or panic or insanity.

Which sounds like great attributes to have if you are the US President. icon_twisted.gif

To be honest, I am dreading RJ forums going forward if we keep focussing on Mr. Obama. The President does not have that much power. I mean he has a cabinet and the Congress as well that impact legislation doesn't he?

Obviously that's the only conclusion that can be drawn from my post.

What on earth are you talking about?????? Dude- He was already in California where the show is taped doing his town hall meetings. He only had to walk 750 yards from where he was introduced by the Terminator earlier in the day to the set for the taping of the show with Jay Leno.

    Dang!!!!!!!!!! icon_rolleyes.gif

So he's not able to multitask, huh?

Tell you what- you are making uniformed comments - why don't you watch the show and come back and make comments

Hmmmm. Well, the comment was probably unfortunate, all things considered.

However, the Prez in this social/casual/friendly chat was also lightly self-deprecating about his own bowling ability -- not hurtful, reallyl.

After all, he didn't say "My game is so gay" or "lame" or "i'm a retard when it comes to bowling, but I"m working on it" - which are all terms so much in common and unthinking use these days.

I sort of agree, call me old fashioned, but seeing the president, hanging out on the Tonight Show, chewin the fat with Jay Leno....kinda FAIL.

Leno's job is to make important people relax and act or atleast seem like the rest of us. Obama was so relaxed cause Leno had done his job and he said a quick nothing like we all do everyday. He's human, but sort of like him in a speedo, it's a part of him I don't think we should be privy to all the time.
