Can some of you tech guys explain in detail how I can upload pics to the forum (to accompany the text that I'm posting) ? I asked management here, but got no answer. I went to the help section here, but it made no sense at all. I'm used to having a browser button where I can pull in a pic from anywhere on my computer.

    You'll need a service like imageshack.us or tinypic.com

Upload your image there, and it will give you a 'direct link' option. Copy that URL. Then you use the IMG button here, and put the URL where it says.

Or, if you have a server farm, you can put it there.

Some sites don't allow hotlinking. Meaning, if you copy the image URL from another website and paste it in the RJ forums with the [img] tags, it may not display. In those situations, use an image host like imageshack or tinypic as Timberoo suggested above.

    I tried that.
When I hit "Submit," it prints the URL instead of the pic.

Upload your pic to some online store site.

Open the pic and copy the url

Paste the url in the message box on RJ

    Select the whole url

Click the img button above the message box. That will enclose the url in the image tags [ img ] amd [ /img ]

Sometimes, you'll find an image and post it, and it shows up fine in your post as viewed on your own computer, but no one else can see it. That happens with sites that don't allow hotlinking. Because you went to that site to find the image, the image is in your browser cache, and it displays just fine in your RJ post on your own computer.

The solution to that problem is to always do your image searches with a different browser than the one you post to RJ with. So, if you post to RJ with Firefox, do your image search in Opera, Safari, Internet Explorer, etc. That way, the image is not in the RJ browser's cache, and if the site doesn't allow hotlinking, you'll immediately see that as soon as you preview or submit your post.

Or, if he had a gaggle of color blind gnomes he could task them to borrow a monogrammed tart cart off the rainbow bridge.

Oh yeah, occasionally the IMG function won't work because of the url. In that case use the HTML code to embed the pic:
    <*img src="www.mypic.com/dirtyboy.jpg" /> (remove asterisks)

I get a giggle every time the "embed" feature of some websites still thinks capital "IMG" works in the tag []s.

    Nope. it don't.
