Why is it that some people have their profile names Hidden/Deleted so you cannot tell who is posting a reply on the Forums? I feel if you are going to reply to thread you should have to show your profile name. Thoughts?

I´ll tell you a trick. If you go to quote them then it gives you the user name of the person who wrote the post even if they are hidden. Normally you don´t get told that until you have 1000 posts, but I´m just kind

The quote thing seems like a bug. I can't imagine why that would be an intentional feature. It defeats the purpose of being hidden.

But I do agree.. If your profile is hidden or offline, then you should NOT be able to post to the forums or send/receive messages.

I agree. If you want to be hidden, then you shouldnt be able to post in the forums. You're either in or you're out.

Most of the forum posts from hidden/deleted members are from members who have since put their profiles on hiatus, deleted them, or been booted off by the administrators.

I don't think you can post while your profile is hidden.

I know some of the guys that were vitriolic and abusive and got booted off come back with other names and post more, then hide their profile.

I believe you can....hotshotcdn has been doing it for some time lately.

Hmm...that just seems like a silly option. My previous experience with forums where you can "park" your account, you then lose your ability to participate in the site, which seems more reasonable.

Though I guess it's technically possible to hide your account, unhide it, post on a forum thread, and then re-hide your account. Stupid, but possible.

I was about to ask the same question. It seems rampant on certain threads.

You can post with your profile being hidden. If your hidden you can't even see your own profile.
