It happned, finally, and yet again. It was almost exactly at midnight. The crowd went wild, I went wild, and if my dad was alive, (who ever got to see the Sox win a World Series) he would go wild.

Life is good. It doesn't make sense that anyone roots for their team and feels some sense of accomplishment because "we" won. But hey, whatever it takes.

Go Sox, bring we home the World Series trophy to your fans. We've got all of the pork pie and french fries you could possibly ask for.

That was a great game! I was raised in Cleveland so I know that their teams never go all the way. They might do well for a while but they always choke and miss the glory. Their performance was as I expected it to be throughout the ALCS.

I became a red sox fan when i lived in Maine - now there's a team! Go Sox!

Ok, I'm not the biggest jock on this site, but I gotta point out that today "shopping" got more than 15 posts, "DADT" got more than 10 where love and relationships became part of the thread. Poetry got more than 10 posts also - in two different threads! Does no one really care about baseball? Or is this not really the jock discussion site? Or is it something elseicon_question.gif

Thank you JC! I'm always amazed at that exact same phenomenon both here in the forums on in the chat room!

    GO SAWX!!!

I love how the rookies and newcomers came through during these last three must-win games. It makes the hottest GM in sports, Theo Epstein, look like a genius.

Now...who the hell are these Colorado Rockies?

I think the long layoff will hurt Colorado. I remember Clint Hurdle when KC called him up from the minors...he was jinxed with the "phenom" label but has turned into a good manager. CO plays good, fundamental baseball. Should be a good World Series.

agreed Rugger, the new guys more than pulled their weight when it meant the most. Coco's final catch was friggin' awesome! I hope his knee is ok...

Yeah - and did everyone see that running leap that Varitek did into Papelbon's arms?! HIGHlarious!

any predictions on how many games will be played in the series? I say 5 or 6 - I don't think Colorado will take Boston all the way to 7 games, but they might win one. or two. Go Sox!

I survived through 1986. Even after 2004, I still don't make predictions, expecially positive ones!

I'm with Rugger. I do NOTHING that might jinx things.

Hell, last night, we have a "Go Sox" sign on a bookshelf that my husband decided should go on top of the TV. (I should mention that it has NEVER been on top of the TV.)

As soon as he moved it, the Indians got their two runs. He says, "Maybe you should move that back..." which I promptly did.

Alright, I officially withdraw my prediction. Don't want to cause or not cause anything. I'm just used to being from Cleveland where we know from the start that it won't end well.

    Go Sox!

It was quite a series. Felt like a rollercoaster ride. The Sox don't make it simple, do they? In Game 4, I walked out of a bar early because I was so frustrated how they were playing. Shesh, they really bounced back. Yes, the Varitek/Papelbon congratulatory hug last night was hilarious.

As for the World Series, I'm just buckling myself in for another sleep depraved week.

For the Boston guys, see you at Fritz or the Alley for the games! Woo Hoo!

Gigaram is old school! That crap happens in every household in New England and has for decades.

treader: Wish I could join y'all there! Best Austin Sox bar seems to be Little Woodrow's, even if predominantly straight (ostensibly).

    GO SOX!

I don't know much about the National League at all since I really concentrate on the Sox. Even if the Sox didn't make it to the series, I would root for whoever the American League team was.

I know the rules are a little bit different in the national league versus the american league but don't recall the differences of the top of my head. I think one of them is that the pitcher must bat, where in the AL, the pitcher does not.

I'm proud the Sox got this far.

They don't have to win the series to keep me a fan. As a lifelong Sox fan, you get used to the failures, when they happen.

But another World Series win so close to the last would put them in a whole new league (pun intended)

Does anyone know anything about the Rockies? The made it to the series so the must be good but I've never seen them play. What is their biggest asset, and what might hurt them against the Sox?

Meh - from what I'm hearing, despite getting hozed by CR in the regular season, the Sox are well positioned take this one. CR had a long rest and rather than being an advantage, they're going to have to ramp back up where as the Sox are still feeling like they've got the biggest ones on the block.

Anyway, MLB.com has a good "FAQ" page and one of the first questions is "• A month ago, I wasn't even paying attention to the National League West east of the Colorado River. Where did the Rockies come from?"

The pitching of the Rockies will have a hard time against the Sox if the Sox are able to continue their hitting streak.

The sox pitching has to stay strong too...they looked good the last 3 games in the Cleveland series, but looked really bad in the previous games, other than Beckett.

The Rockies are a good team, so don't rule them out. Their big break between the last game to tomorrow nights game could hurt them, but they did complete 2 sweeps to make it to the World Series. Lets hope the Sox win it though icon_biggrin.gif
