Bachelorette Parties in Gay Bars an Insult?

Here's an interesting article about a 'trend' of disallowing bachelorette parties in gay bars. Explaining that the women flaunt their pending marriage in front of gays who can not marry, is a slap in the face.

The issue of gay marriage aside, I'd hate to walk into my favourite gay bar and have to deal with a bachelorette party. Drunk screaming girls...not fun.

I dont want to have anything to do with any women who dont behave themself. I go to dinner and lunch with my coworker but I always go with fellow male co worker.

I hate dealing with drunk straight girls.

Even worse are the drunk straight guys who get annoyed when they get checked out, like they've forgotten where they are.

But our local bars need the cash they bring in... :-/

I guess I dont see the argument, I always encounter straight men or women at the local gay bars I go to, and no one seems to care whos straight or gay. I've even met married couples hanging out at my favorite spot....and I take my straight coworkers out for drinks there...(they voted no on prop8 btw.) I guess my answer to this article is dont judge a book by its cover.

I don't mind it. I have never seen them flaunt their marriage in front of me. Most will admit to wanting to marry a gay guy before their actual fiancé. Best part, they throw a lot of cash away to any guy with no shirt on.

I've seen this twice at bars. I never got the impression the girls were flaunting their right to wed, but I will say they were pretty annoying. It gave the place a different vibe while they were there. And they hogged the go-go boys' attentions.

A lot of times if they have male stripper night at the gay bar, and the stripper is straight he'll get as many of his straight women friends to come. That's soooo annyoing when you're in a gay bar & the straight women get defensive over the fact that the stripper is straight.

One time the stripper brought his girlfriend who actually was picking a fight with someone who went up to give him a dollar. Hello! Needless to say after that - everyone ignored him and he didn't really make any tips.

I don't think it is flaunting the right to marry. They are just being drunken skanks that see gay men as accessories to their failed Sex and the City bullshit fantasy. They think they are being subversive... right.

Uh, compared to the gay guys when they're drunk...icon_idea.gificon_lol.gif I'll take a crazy girl over a drunk guy any day! I'm yet to find a calm, relaxing, and ultra-masculine gay bar. Even leather and bdsm bars get queeny beyond repair. The girls I've met that went to gay bars went there as another option to going to a male strip club. They want to spend the evening with hot guys before they have to settle with Mr. Gut-in-two-years-after-the-baby-is-born-and-sex-stops. I've never met a girl in a bar that seemed to be "flaunting" her marriage.

Some people are just too sensitive...icon_rolleyes.gif

As a stripper... I can say there is NOTHING worse than a gagle of str8 snatch acting a fool in the gay bars! People paint the gays as wild and crazy... these women turn into str8 up Bacchae in the bars and act a fool... typically one of them ends up in the dressing room taking it doggy style by one of the str8 strippers until management catches them and kicks them out... dripping twat and all! Horrid!

I've noticed this trend and must say, I'd never looked at it with that sort of political irony before...I'll have to think on this matter more. That said, I find the parties of straight women bemusing and at times annoying (straight women can be VERY friendly with their hands when it comes to gay men for some reason).

My fav. saying as regards them: "Sure it's laughs and giggles now, but wait til she's had a bit more, then it's nothing but tears and "I'm fat" comments."

This is silly. I don't like be around drunk silly people period. It really does not matter if you are straight or gay.

This notion that these women are flaunting in our faces that they have the right to wed it's insane because before that passage of prop 8 you did feel that way... come on! Chances are you did not.

We can we be very bitter vindictive sissies when we don't get what we want.
    wah wah wah!

I seen gay drunk men do some terrible things which includes groping and pawing strippers.

Who are just as loud. Bad behavior is bad behavior.icon_rolleyes.gif

Its funny cause my friend and I were literally talking about this very issue last night.

A few months ago we were out and we saw 2 big bachlorette parties out on the same night. Both had at least 8 drunken ladies, and a messy bride to be with a large gaudy vial. My friend had a quote that stuck with me. He said...

Its like they're at the zoo!!

After some reflection, It does seem like they treat it like a Zoo. They come in looking and acting a mess and a lot of times they kinda point and giggle at all the cute gay guys. And, just like in real life, if they do something really stupid, they get scratched by the animals lol.

That's really interesting because the last time I went to my favorite Gay Club to dance on a Saturday night it was like straight night in there??? The floor was packed with tons of straight couples who were looking at me and my friends like "what are you doing here?"icon_eek.gif. I was like, "What am I doing here? This is our club go to main street if you want to party, but leave one of the few gay clubs we have here alone." I left fairly agitated that night. Hasn't happened since though....maybe it was straight night and I didn't know??? icon_confused.gif
As for the bachelorette parties, I can see if their future husbands wouldn't want them going to a strip club they could be like "babe we're going to a gay club so you don't have to worry." But if they were going to the club to start shit in the "ha-ha I'm getting married and you can't" kind of way....the gloves come off!!!icon_twisted.gif
