Hey guys. Does anyone know how an 18 year-old (like me) would go about finding a guy about my age who is interested in a meaningful LTR? Seems to me that most of the guys my age are just looking to get banged-up for a night in the small college town where I live. I'm just having a hard time finding a guy who's down-to-earth and not way older than me. Any ideas how I should go about my search?

take it from soemone who had a 7 year relationship starting when he had barely turned 18

    DON"T FUCKING DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You haven't grown, you haven't experianced life, you haven't even started to know your self yet don't force your self to have some mythical social status.. it doesn't mean shit..

First and for most go live life, find happiness and truth in your self first.. then maybe, after that you might want a long term relationship.. then you can start cultivating something special with someone

The world "find" disturbs me. I don't think it's that much of an artificial construct.

I'm also having the same problem as you OP. But I've kinda given up for now, just gonna focus on myself for the time being and see what happens =p

I've found just about every age group has the above questions. Here's what I did. I simply went out and flexed my emotional/social muscles. Like your body, they need exercise, too!

So, Doug's rule. I went out every day or night. To a club, a pub, a restaurant. I had to talk to one person, woman, man, old, young, short, tall, heavy, skinny etc. for 10 minutes then I could go home. There were many unfinished beers and coffees.

Many times I left the apt in the evening at 10 and was home in bed by eleven.

5 years later and about 1,500 people later, walking up to people and starting a conversation took as much effort as talking to a co-worker.

Bill was standing at a club under a huge light show fixture over the dancefloor. Glitter ball, flashing lights etc. The thing's mounting was girders suspended on chains and they wobbled.

I walked up behind him and leaning forward said into his ear (the music was LOUD),

"If there's an earthquake, we're all going to die." in a Data-like cheerful voice. He turned around, turned the most delightful shade of red, and we just stood there grinning at each other.

I would suggest you sow your oats. I truly believe most men at heart are horny, feral beings. If you want to go out there and stick your who-ha in everything that is legal, go ahead. Just be safe about. Don't be one of those old men who regrets not living life like every 18 yr-old should. Have fun, love others, and smile.icon_biggrin.gif You will find your love eventually. Looking for it desperately won't find you what you are looking for, IMHO....

Since it has been 3 years since he posted, I imagine he has sown some oats. Maybe even reaped some experience as a result.

I have to agree with this. 18 is way way too young for a guy to be settled down nowadays. Go and explore life and then when the time is right you'll find that guy who is meant to be.

Well you would be around 21 now, and still a boy at that tender young age; I hope you are still enjoying the freedoms of your youth.

OMG I was 30 when my LTR started, and man had I lived before that. Enjoy your life, love you first, because a LTR may not ever be on the cards for you, or it's just not your time yet.
