What's better - the idea or the reality?

Do you find the idea of something, the fantasy of it in your imagination to be better than the reality? Or is it the opposite for you - you have the thought and make it happen?

a bit of both, sometimes the idea can be so over powering that the reality can be just down right anti-climactic but then, I always try to keep my feet on the ground (so to speak) and make my ideas into reality, they might not be as good as my fantasy but they are usually more satisfying

The fantasy is always so much better. I have a very vivid imagination and have to stop myself from getting too far ahead or I ruin the experience.

A little from column A, a little from column B.

Depends on what we're talking about.
Sometimes sexual fantasies are way better in my mind that in real life.
Sometimes the ending to a TV show (*cough*BSG*cough*) or a book is better if I don't see/read it.

But sometimes the reality of getting together with friends, or my wedding, are way better than I could have possibly imagined.

Ya, sex is gonna be on discussion soon or later ..Sex in fatasy always look better
Everything in this world is exsited in the world of ideas, which every idea of an item or a concept is perfect.

Let's for example think about the idea of "table" - it represents the ideal table, the concept inside our minds and ideology. There are millions of physical tables around the world, billions around the history, in all different shapes and coulors, different materials.. But the ideal table will always stay the perfect concept that we're looking for ..

Philosophy .. I hope I was clear enough..

It's true, Lostboy, but in my experience, the reality is only better than the fantasy if I haven't spent a lot of time fantasizing about it LOL. The more I invest in a fantasy, the more likely I'm going to be disappointed with the reality. That's why I try to go in to all things sans expectations.

Reality; when I play the piano, I experience something far more real, physically enjoyable, and intense at that moment within myself. I should go practice....

What about the music you imagine? Is it better than what you can create?

Engaging myself in art of different kinds as well as practicing various forms of meditation, there's a very strong part of my consciousness that is constantly engaged in the realm of ideas.

It's a great place to be however I get the most out of actualizing these images and plans since, really, day-dreaming for day-dreaming's sake is roughly equivalent to (though less productive than) masturbation.

In short - I like to make it happen.

If I imagine it, I create it soon enough. At times, it creates itself without a conscious aid.

I hear and see such exquisite beauty in my head, sometimes it hurts my heart that it will never come out.

But I see a million possibilities play out in my head on a daily basis - most of the time I prefer the reality.

I believe in "Reality" it just seems some guys like to play in the fantasy world, give you a bunch of BS and crap and never want anything to happen,

with me I would make it happen and not keep blowing smoke up peoples ass. with a waste of time,

and sometimes you might just get disappointed in the person when you meet or think something great deal of.

it seems like Im in a Giant bowl surrounded by "Flakes"

Generally the idea for me. I'm an idealist and a dreamer. So, nothing happens the way it should...

Reality. Pure Ideals have value, as Plato teaches, but the mortgage and the car note still have to be paid.

The idea....DEFINETLY lol. I once dated a porn star and he was the hottest guy I had ever met, bright blue eyes, brownish red hair gorgeous smile and cute lips....but then after about a month i realized he was a crazy egotistical maniac and I ran for cover never EVER looking back..... icon_eek.gif
