Relax. Think back in time. What is your earliest remembrance?

I think I was 4 years old. I was in a garden. My Mom told me to bend down and smell a flower. I think it was a daisy. At that time a bee stung me. I cried.
To this day I have a total bee "phobia".

I also think, in some strange way, this event helped to shape my gay existence.

    It is an interesting exercise...
How far back can you remember? What is the memory?

    I'm in a field; the weather's calm.
I'm four years old, alone, except I have my dog and we're playing; all day.

Maybe it's a dream, since I also remember seeing myself from the perspective of my dog....

I have some really early memories. I remember taking walks with my dad through our neighborhood when I was 2. My dad had me fully convinced that it was the "hollow tree" from a story book I had and the bunny rabbit from the book lived there.

My mom says I was under 2, and I remember going with her and my aunt to the hair dresser's. My mother got a new hairstyle, and I cried because I didn't recognize her and thought we were leaving without her. Somehow mom came back (I don't remember if she had put her hair back down or not).

I am 2 years 6 months old or so. Being told by my mom that I had to stay behind while they went to the cottage on vacation. I still can re-create the feeling of heartbreak and longing. icon_sad.gif

Looking out a screen door from the dark living room. The sun was out and I think kids were playing. One might have been my sister.

I recall wrestling the other sperm for supremacy in the dark wet canal. I knew the egg was there, waiting, calling me to transformation.

I freaked out my mom last year by telling her that I remembered my bedroom from when I was little having green walls and white shelves. She told me that we moved out of that house when I was 1 and a half.

My first memories are from when I was 2, and they are just random images.

One: the broom closet in my house at the time
Two: Roasting marshmallows in the fireplace
Three: My sister's room with the fisher price playhouse in the center

Once i was three, i began to develop memories that were more than random images, haha.

    I have a few from before I was 3.

One time, I was playing in front of the couch, laying down towards it. I saw a mouse run across the backside of it along the wall and I exclaimed, "RABBIT!"

I remember being at the neighbor's birthday party. I won a game and instead of wanting the toy prize, I wanted the very big red balloon tied with green yarn. After the party, I was home and wanting to play with the balloon outside, but my Mom wouldn't let me go outside. She left for the store, so I asked my Dad and he said yes. The balloon pops outside, so I go back inside. My Mom returns and asks about the balloon, to which my Dad tells her that I popped it outside. I got in trouble for that.

    There are many others.

I am three (maybe four) at the babysitters house. Her 19/20 year old daughter is on the open stair case, dressed like it was 1985 (because it was).

For the longest time, I remembered my neighbor white girl having wild, frizzy hair at one time. Over time, I asked people if they remembered that, including her, when reminiscing old times. No one did. Finally, a few years ago, I came across a photograph that I never saw before and there she was, frizzy hair like an afro.

My earliest memory is from my father's apartment. I remember the brown panelling and brown furniture circa the 80's, and I very vividly remember playing with this:

    0007538002011_215X215.jpg

I don't know how old I am, other than that I had to have been under 2 years old...cause he suicided when I was like, 2.5 yo.
Significant only because its the only memory I have of him. Well, and because it's the earliest one I've got.

My first memory, around age 3, is seeing my first step-father beating my mother. I recalled going after him with something. My mother later clarified that it was his Tennis racquet.

My second is of my grandmother exercising with me - she used to lay on her back, place me on her feet, hold my hands, and do leg presses with me. The remaining early memories consist of me and my grandmother doing something. My mother, seeing as I would attempt to stop my step-father, decided early to have me spend most of my childhood with my grandmother. She wanted to make the marriage work and felt I was a liability and likely to be beaten if I stayed and continued to interfere.

I remember the feeling of being in my Jolly Jumper.

Sometimes I wish they made them for adults.

I remember pulling my little brother in his wagon a few blocks to a park with a slide and swings. I was 3, he was 1. Freaked out my parents - they thought we'd been kidnapped.

I remember being out on my great uncle's farm in the kitchen. Evidently, my great aunt had given us ice cream on a previous visit. So I asked if I could have some ice cream. My mother corrected me that we dont ask for things. I was very embarrassed. This was back in the days when women wore full skirts. On this occasion my mom was wearing a carmel velvet skirt and I wrapped myself in her skirt to hide myself cuz I was so embarrassed.

I also remember on one visit not knowing what manure was, as I stood in front of a large pile of it. My brother had to interpret it into "poo" for me. I was grossed out immediately. I am sure my great uncle must have thought what an idiot I was not to recognize it when I was standing in front of pile of it.

I can remember a little gray round car with molehair upholstery. I remember my father saying he was going out to warm the car up before we would go out to get in.

I can remember putting my little blanket under the covers and down to the foot of my bed and liking to rub my toes on the satin edges of my little blanket while I sucked my forefinger.

I can remember laying across my grandmother's knees and getting my back scratched....I still love having my back scratched......but not during the sex, cuz it shuts down the whole sex drive.

    My mom, circa 1980:
"Sweetie, we could not afford to buy you the Crystal Clear Barbie Doll you wanted, but we hope you'll like Ms. United Nation - Greece instead... her eyes close when you put her to sleep!"

My memory is too mottled for me to remember what time frame a memory comes from. I also have a habit of seeing pictures and remembering them as actual memories.
