What do you do to get yourself ready for a game?
Do you eat a meal? Large or small one? Do you skip working out for that day, or just tailor it towards warming up and getting yourself ready to play?

Today is my first softball game, last week's was rained out. I'm slightly nervous, but i'm sure with the proper pre-game routine, I'll be so distracted I won't think about it until it's time to play.

I try not to eat after an hour prior, and I only eat half the portion I usually would. I don't work muscle groups that are associated with the sport (chest in shoulders for softball example) that day. I stretch muscles for blood circulation prior to the game.

I generally listen to music or if I'm nervous I'll call an old friend and catch up to take my mind off the game.

Our coach would tell my team what to do before every race. Everything from what to eat, how to warm up, what time everything had to be done by, how much sleep to get, even who we could not talk to (parents and friends). Just the nature of the sport I played (rowing), 'cause if you missed your start time in the race, then you automatically forfeited. I was not allowed to eat ('cause my weight mattered, I had to be 125lbs) until after a race then I could binge. The other guys got powerbars and water, had to do 15 mins of stretching, and a 15 minute warmup which included small parts of the race we were about to do.

I was so stressed it was making my stomach upset, so after getting off work at three, i napped until four thirty, then got ready for the game.
i wasn't hungry at all, so didn't eat anything special before the game.
i stretched and we tossed the ball around. i didn't lift on tuesday either, just to make sure not to mess anything up.

we tied our first placement game.
Which is a good thing I guess.

the placement games are 60 minutes long regardless of where you are at the end of the hour, the game is over. They try to pack as many placement games in a day as they can. we played great for a first game ofthe season.
