it has occurred to me more than once that being gay is an 'alternative' life-style, if you can call it that. well it is certainly a sub-culture. however as the years roll by, I realize, that I'm not really interested in the 'main stream' because their needs and views are pretty much irrelevant to me. however I often find other gay guys (really humans in general) tend to hold on to their main-stream acculturation even if it doesn't particularly suit them, out of habit.

This isn't really a rant about that, but more a curious exploration of what other alternative things gay guys in the real jock community are aware of or into.

me for one, I like to research into a few of these topics and wonder if there are other gay guys into this stuff:

    - ozonation of drinking water / preservation of legumes/fruit
    - Sir Royal Raymond Rife and vibrational medicine
    - radiant energy work of Thomas G. Hieronymous
    - hypnosis for changing body and mind

what other alternative stuff are YOU into???
mostly curious to know what other stuff is out there....
hope someone finds this interesting enough to respond...

being gay is being gay, it isn't a culture, an attitude or a life style, its like saying the colour blue is a life style or a culture, its not..

I'm gay that does not make me "alternative" it just makes me gay..

maybe you need to stop placing so much focus on your sexuality and more on your personality

There are better, more natural ways of (drinking) water purification, what is it about ozonation that is interesting to you?
As for fruits and veg, have you read about fermentation? http://www.wildfermentation.com is a great site and his book of the same name should be available from your library.

I love my radiant heat flooring icon_smile.gif
    - hypnosis for changing body and mind
I've always wanted to try hypnosis, I guess because I believe in it I'm sure it would work for me. But I've also never been up to drop the 200-300 dollars it seems to cost in my neck of the woods.

Growing up, I always felt I was different from everyone else and after a few years a sense of alienation set in that has kind of stayed with me, even after I learned to "fake it" and to fit in. While I dont view my childhood experiences as unique, in my case I have always been interested in and embraced the more alternative and "out of the box" solutions.

I dont know how alternative a lot of this is anymore, but my current interests include:

    - Esperanto
    - Permaculture
    - The concept of humanure and urine (Liquid Gold) as a fertilizer
    - Commercial & homemade solar, wind, and biogas devices
    - Alternative building, especially Strawbale, cob, and earthships.
(particularly interested in a hybrid of all three!)
    - Bio-remediation
    - Intentional Communities
