Hey Guys

A friend of mine who is HIV+ is having problems eating and we are looking for the best product/supplement to help him stay healthy and not lose weight while we continue to look for ways to improve his appetite.

Any suggestions?

cronker, don't know how serious his condition is but get a copy of 'built to survive' by nelson vergel. there is tons of good advice in there especially for people with hiv. all about nutrition and weightloss.

best wishes.

Ensure has been used successfully in many cases. Check with the local AIDS taskforce or community organization - the company donates lots of it around the country so he may be able to qualify for some free of charge.

I thought there were some well established protocols to combat wasting, including use of anabolic steroids. Surely his doctor has talked to him about that.

For gaining or just maintaining weight I have found the information given in this eReport to be very helpful. It works well for me. Check it out at
hdfoster.com, scroll down and download for free the pdf titled "What Really Causes AIDS."

Ask doctor first. I am not qualified to give medical advice but as far as meal replacements, Met Rx shakes were first formulated for cancer patients which could not eat anymore. I dont know if they still are but it is worth some looking into. Also steroid therapy and marinol (medical marijuana) are also used. There is also an appetite stimulant that is non narcotic. I found when I did not want to eat, junk food really hit the spot. The calories are empty and not healthy but it will keep the fat on you. Depression is also a possible factor. Good luck.
