I've met people who I suspected were in that sort of relationship. More as a function of denial than anything.

My uncle did the same thing, but I think he was only legally married to the woman for a few months. They got married so they could have a kid, and he (my first cousin) now has 2 moms and 2 dads!

I did it in 1989 with an alcoholic and drug user lesbian . I did it , to try to get a green card to stay in USA and she did it for money. We ended up hating each other. The outcome....I failed to get my green card and she only get a few hundred dollars from me, nothing more.

I've met at least one, possibly two of those couples. Of course, they married decades ago when this was a practical solution...

While it's obvious what's going on, they do genuinely seem to share a love and bond that I still don't have. They may be flaming and getting plenty on the side, but they do have a better marriage than most I know. So, it's hard to judge or wonder why they continue the sham...it just works and I'm happy for them.

While I am not in the military, I work in Iraq and I heavily interact with the soldiers. I've met many lesbians and gay men who get married for the benefits and for the facade of it all. If they're married, they get less questions about their sexuality, and they get more money for being separated from their spouses. It's a loophole that works for them!

I don't know about this one. I would have children with a lesbian and if the only way I could have legal custody over the the kids was to be married than I would.

Mate I'm not having a go, and truly I'm not but.......would that not be putting your wants, and feeling before that of the child's?

Well it would be a mutual agreement between me and the woman that we both or myself wanted children.

I dont think it would be putting my wants and feelings before the child because when straight couples have children, normally it is because they want to.

It was the nature of things if a gay and his faghag were both single by a certain agreed upon age, when I was in my early gay days. A major reason why I don't believe in having faghags or being a fruitfly. So sad to go so long without a partner or having to cover up your true nature cause the Susie B. Nosey is a biggoted right winged ultra conservative nazi bitch. Fuck that noise.

Queer as Folk... Season 1... Lyndsey and the French dude.

Well technically they weren't gonna get married to hide their sexuality.

I have encountered the same thing. I've known several Air Force lesbians that have married gay men for those reasons. I'm not sure if I remember correctly, but they seemed to think it made living off base easier. Maybe there are some military guys here that can clear up what the actual advantages would be.
