At a local bar, you can purchase VCR head cleaner otherwise known as poppers . I've heard they are technically illegal to use via inhalation(even though many people use them at the very same bar) but legal to purchase. why?

Also, I looked poppers up before trying them, and there are no reports of addiction, withdrawal, or negative effects (besides maybe a headache or drop in blood pressure). And apparently, they are very common in gay culture. I've seen them used in some porns! icon_smile.gif

I've found that their use makes bottoming easier and more enjoyable personally. I was just wondering what other peoples thoughts about poppers were and maybe even their personal experience? Do you think they are bad all the time, over a long period of time, or not at all? thanks&cheers!

the stuff just gives me a Roaring headache and does nothing to enhance the exerience, but if you like snort on. I find, some days, I have enough brain cells on vacation, why send them off like a tour group with rocket fuel? icon_wink.gif

If someone needs poppers to make sex more enjoyable, they're doing something very wrong.

Decades ago, I used poppers during sex...then they thought poppers might be the cause of AIDS ...(gay men used poppers; gay men got AIDS, so they suspected there might be a link) so I stopped .....yeah, it was that long ago.

Poppers are great for sex. They cause the blood vessels to dilate and you get a rush of blood and oxygen to the brain. And if you get the rush timed just right (it only lasts for a few seconds or so) with your orgasm, it is mind blowing. The orgasm is way stronger and lasts way longer....just reverberating over and over. ...OMG, you are like so spent afterwards! ....A downside to all that is that it make a regular orgasm seem pale and puny by comparision, so you always want to use poppers once you get started....altho technically, it isnt an addiction.

I can imagine it makes bottoming easier as your brain is temporarily occupied with the rush as you are being fucked so you would relax more.

Ok, so much for the great sex part....

Besides, the AIDS "scare" way back when, there was also concern that poppers just isnt good for your blood vessels and could cause a stroke. I dont know. They definitely can give you a headache after repeated use. But when the real thing went illegal, I stopped using them.

Also, they make your breath stink, so be sure your partner is using them too, so he doesnt notice. And, obviously, dont use them for a while before going out in public.

If you want me to top you, don't give me poppers, or we can read poems to each other. Luckily headaches are only a rare occurrence, unfortunately the pleasant effects too, so most of the time I decline.

Poppers are a street name for various alkyl nitrites inhaled for recreational purposes. Amyl nitrite is used medically to treat angina pectoris. Amyl nitirte is used in video head cleaners and air fresheners. The nitrites are smooth muscle relaxants. Since the rectal sphincter is a smooth muscle, it will relax facilitating anal sex. As blood vessels are relaxed, blood pressure will drop. The heart to compensate accelerates and pumps more blood through the body resulting in a warm feeling and excitement. One of the side effects of this blood vessel relaxation is a headache. The British government believes that poppers pose little potential harm to individuals or to society. In spite of what the British say there are some potential problems

Taken with Viagra it may result in fainting, heart attack or a stroke

Poppers increase pressure in the eye and may complicate glaucoma

There is some evidence that prolonged use may result in temporary or permanent blindness

Some individuals who use poppers in high dose may become cyanotic (turn blue in color)icon_lol.gif

Continuing debate if poppers are linked to HIV and Kaposi's sarcoma. Most evidence says there is no link

Well, the "embalming fluid" that passes for poppers in America, today, is some rather nasty stuff. The original poppers were GREAT !!

At the beginning of the AIDS epidemic, some wing nut decided that poppers (amyl or butyl nitrate) caused AIDS. So, the silly legislatiors outlawed poppers.

About 5 minutes later, poppers manufacturers changed the formula a little and sold it as "leather stripper," "video head cleaner," and "carburator cleaner !" Then, manufacturers started bottling all kinds of caustic chemicals and selling them.

One time I saw a guy using poppers at the gym. I guess he felt that it helped him get a better pump or something. I thought it was strange sight, considering this was before I knew what they were.

That's just what you want to do before a workout -- an inhalant that's desired effect is lightheadedness.

Despite there not being any evidence that they're necessarily bad for you, I'd hope common sense would tell you to use in moderation...
