Hi guys. I just wanted to let you know I've added a few management features under the "buddy & other lists" link at the top of the site. The new items allow you to:

    1. Remove testimonials you've left for someone
    2. Unblock members (both kinds of blocking, site and forum)

As always, please write in if you find any problems with the new features.

    Thanks,

    Chris

Excellent new features. You're way ahead of the trend in giving people control over their website experience.

    MORE!?
All these new features every week are becoming a bit uncomforting.
I mean, RealJock was perfect when I first got here. Now with all the additions, everyweek, it's left me feeling a bit bombarded, ok!

jprichva saidWhy would you need to remove a testimonial?

Sounds like junior high school to me. ("You can't be my best friend anymore!")

Yeah, I have to agree. I said it before and I will say it again. RJ is going down hill fast. With all those silly features, it is hard to believe this is an adults site. But I guess some guys never grow up.

Why don't people put their efforts into something like, a section where you can ask a doctor questions or something. Rather than playing to the tune of the baby's on RJ. And lets face it, you have to be a big baby to need any of the features mentioned above.

I think the "unblock" consideration is a good idea and I applaud it.

The "testimonial" removal... I have some concerns about. In some cases it might seem appropriate, but I can see someone, mad at someone else runs in and yanks the testimonial.. like a 3 year old stamping his foot in protest.

"I'll show em, I'll just remove the nice thing I said about him on his profile last week.."

I really can see that happening.

It is happening already with the ignore thing. I had a guy the other day tell me he was going to put me on ignore because I simply pointed out something to him. He then replied to another one of my posts, and I said "I thought you were ignoring me" His reply was "no I'm not ignoring you...........yet"

It is turning into a crowed of babies in a school yard.

Those new features are starting to get embarrassing. I hope the straight community are not looking in, because we are starting to look stupid now.

I am turning over a new leaf.

I was tempted to start the thread---

"Would you remove the testimonial you wrote to the guy above you"

Nope! Leave that for someone else, if it hasn't been done already (charlitos)

peterstrong saidlol, good ones silverfox & paradox - hey that rhymes !

whats that saying about " the pot calling the kettle black " or something ?

so guys who reinvent their own profiles or start over with a fresh one cause they are embarrassed by too much of the blather or back biting they wrote in the past are not a different sort of cry baby ? I don't know if this is directed at me, but I have never done that. This the same profile I have had since the day I joined RJ. Check the date. Are you talking about the name change? Well, maybe that shouldn't be allowed, but it certainly was not done to hide. Have you noticed, I show my face around here?
but somebody who wrote something in a moment of exuberance ( maybe, gasp - god forbid - without knowing someone very well yet )
is a cry baby accused of dumbing down this site
for now using the edit option, available to all forum posts ? I'm not talking about editing forum posts. I'm talking about a silly ignore feature and now a silly remove testimonial feature. I don't think testimonials are done in a moment of exuberance. If they are, they are not worth much.

sometimes people wagging the finger end up looking rather foolish themselves - not unlike the anti-gay marriage hysteria : I agree with you here. Chucky and Pattison have been wagging their fingers at me for some time now, and I do think they look rather foolish.

" THE UNDOING OF TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE ! "

    or

" OH MY GOSH, RJ IS GOING DOWN HILL WITH THESE NEW FEATURES ! "

catch my drift yet ? No. Can't say I do.

someone needs to grow up already indeed - just not the ones getting the finger wagged at them. So who are you talking about? The finger has been waged at me many times, so that rules me out.

    Dumbing down the site ?
how about the endless petty personality feuds on here ( even a cursory reading of prich and perez posts reveal how oft they r in the thick of them ) most likely between guys who barely know each other and most likely btwn those whom have never even had a 5 minute face to face talk / meeting in person. Yeah, their are a few, that if you disagree with them they get their nickers in a twist and run to Chris in RJ screaming "MikePhil said I was wrong. He said I was talking crap. It's not fare. I'm always right. I will not pay for any more membership if he is not removed" Yeah, I too would call that petty. But it is no skin off my back. I need no extra features to deal with that.
I personally find that very embarrassing for the guys involved and very unfortunate for the IMAGE of the rest of us. I'm very tempted to post an email I got from RJ a few weeks back. Just lets say, they like a lively RJ. There are zillions of bandwidth bits consumed with that on here, but a testimonial disappearing is what " drags us back to grade school " ? Yes. It is the fact that adults need an option like that, that is childish. or what a straight person potentially viewing this site is going to see and judge us on ?

Excuse me but I totally fail to SEE any of your logic on this one. No, I didn't think you would. There's no chance of ever forgetting this is a gay website, is there.

    Such is life,
get over it & get on with it. Oh, I'm well over it. Just voicing my openion.

MUCHOS KUDOS to RJ admin guys for creating and providing a GREAT WEBSITE !

Testimonials disappearing are not tracked by the straight community watching this site - Why was that even necessary to say ?
Endless reams of bitchfest back biting can be read on countless forums here, if your worry is about what anyone from the straight community might witness upon looking in on us, or maybe some grad student doing a study on the gay community; start with that - like the bible sez, something about ' the log in your own eye, rather than the splinter in your neighbor's.'

FYI - do not assume every bit of any one's post is about u - that's not logical icon_idea.gif

If pointing out the childishness of some of the features on RJ is assuming that every bit of any one's post is about me, then I am truly sorry. I didn't think I would need to go into such detail as to point out to you, that I don't think any of it is about me.

I'm not in the least bit worried about what happens on RJ. I think you should though, if you think silly childish features are required on an adult website.

Sorry guys, but I really dislike the new Realjock makeover..

1st of all the colours are a mess.

    - The RJ logo is not looking good at all.

    - When you look at profiles pictures they look really bad and there are no dates when guys posted comments.

    - Another thing about profiles is that you cannot view the date in which the profile was updated.

    - Everytime I read posts it all looks distracting because of these dull colours.

I think Real Jock could do soo much better than this. Hoping they will change it back of for the better.

There are over 6 threads on the make over, yet you find a 4 year old one.
Not so funny, how relevant it is; however.

Hmmm..now all the testimonials anyone ever wrote to anyone else are deleted, and there is no longer any ability to leave one, other than on a pic comment...

How about an ignore option to use on guys who get around that by only posting as a Hidden/Deleted Member.
