No no you are wrong, she's obviously standing a long way back, so just looks small, all the members of the royal family are about 20 meters tall, its the way they maintain there position of power. They are all giants, think King Kong, Godzilla etc etc.

There is an awful lot of shizzle happening on top of the mantlepiece don't you think?

Well, she is only 5'4" and I believe she just turned 83. The president being 6'1" +.

Pink was so the right colour to go for.

    Stands out a mile.

Despite my liking for her frock. I should probably point out, that I actually want a Republic.

If you noticed the look on Lady Obama's face in any of the related pics, you can easily see that she's thinking "where the fuck have we landed, Liliput?"

    Good for you.
I wish Canada, too, would abandon all vestiges of any connection with that monarchy.

her poor osteoperotic bones have shriveled her to the relative size of a bread box.

Barack obama is actually very far away in the picture, and they superimposed him in front of the queen.

ps annie liebowitz is a hack -- a very lucky, connected hack with an amazing team of assitants who turned out beautiful shots of the queen.
    but she's still a hack.

icon_eek.gif The scandal! Look at her older work and then tell everyone you still think she's a hack. She's an amazing photographer. Just because her recent stuff is all Disney Ads and celebrity portraits with tons of digital effects doesn't mean she's not a great artist. That Susan Sontag of hers left her with like 80 mortgages to pay, she's got to find some way to cough it up.

I just keep thinking that she was already queen when Lucy and Ricky went to Europe.

And then I think about A Private Function. Anyone else here like that movie?

with all the funnies going on in this thread, this post is the one that made me laugh so loud I woke up a roomate.

and I've got the queen beat; my mother is 4'11" (1.5 meters) tall and shrinking.

Well, I'm a bit two-faced about this. I want a Republic at home, but would be sad if Canada got rid of the Monarchy. Just because it would seem like the end of an era....

    icon_biggrin.gif

(by the way, Obama gave the Queen an i-pod)

p.s. I'm all for the Michelle Obama/ Queen of England hug thing!

Well, if the queen was 5'4" (stated above) to begin with and she is now a very old lady, she has probably shrunk a few inches due to age-related compression of her intervertebral disks and joint cartilage, osteoperosis, and kyphosis (hunching) so her effective height is probably significantly shorter than 5'4" which makes sense. I would assume from the pictures that she is probably a foot or so shorter than Obama?

Edit: Maybe a little more than a foot...

Edit 2: Eek! I misspelled ostioporosis. Sorry.
