    Hi all.

I have a two part question:

    1) What clique/social group did you belong to in High School? Examples might include popular crowd, jocks, nerds, band, theater, etc.

    2) Do you perceive there to be "cliques" of a sort on Realjock?

Uuuuugh, you lost me on the HighSchool part. I wore really thick glasses, you figure it out.

But a clique on RealJock, sure. LilTanker /Z Drew > everyone else. icon_razz.gif

Cliques are part of human society. I don't think it is possible not to have them. Some are more obvious than others, and in some parts of one's life (e.g. adolescence) cliques take front and centre in terms of importance.

In high school I guess I was part of the nerd group. There are groups of friends on RJ. Are they cliques? I guess so. Cyber-cliques might be a good term.

I belonged to no cliques in HS, and had no friends, either. I was the only Senior of over 450 who refused to have his photo taken for the graduation yearbook, and the only one who didn't attend the graduation ceremony. They withheld my diploma for that, but eventually gave it to me 2 months later, there being no legal grounds to deny it to me.

If there are RJ cliques I am unaware of them, and I certainly don't belong to one myself.

*giggles* you can be in it to GG icon_biggrin.gif

I wasn't in a clique in school, I was to unpopular with the cool kids for standing up for the geeky ones to ever be in any clique but the ones who were considered cool weren't that great.. GAWD they were idiots actually!

    Nope, and Nope.

I do think that certain people on here come across as snobbish, but am not sure if that is a clique or not.

Good question! High School....nah. RJ... well I feel a bond with a lot of the other men that I see here a lot. Most are my Buddy/Hot List buddies and I feel that I know them without ever having met them. Most of my "clique" would be over 30 and I would not trade their friendship/wisdom for the world. And I thank each and every one of them for being good guys. You know who you are....icon_wink.gif

In high school i was either the least popular popular kid, or the most popular loser there was haha. I kind of belonged in part to all of the cliques. I played sports so i was friends with a lot of the jocks/cool guys, I primarily hung out with the partiers/druggies because they were far more fun and i like to have a good time, and i was in honor society and choir/band so i my fair share of geeky friends too. Really dont keep in touch (or care to) with any of them in general. As far realjock i can see a few cliques in general. The headless vs face pics, old guys (aka creepers, lol) vs us young studs (jk), and more recently the circumcised vs uncircumcised (see about 4 threads in the past couple months)

Bitch please. You know you're not allowed to wear pink sweatpants today.

I was the angsty, bristley loner in high school. Still am, in some ways. I view cliques as exclusionary and negative. I prefer to think we have different sub-communities on the RealJock forums based on common interests, friendship, etc.

And I just puked in my mouth a little at how touchy-feely and kum-ba-ya-ey that sounded.

How 'bout we call 'em "flux-membership clown posses"?

I hung out with the alternative/punk music crowd. But somehow, I was also friends with people from other cliques.. jocks, cheerleaders, nerds, honor roll kids, metal heads, stoners, gang bangers, band geeks, etc.

    I've got people skills!

I'm relatively new here, so I don't belong to a clique. But I can see there's a divide between the older RJ members and the newer RJ members. Older, referring to the length of time they've been on the site.

I was part of the performing arts/music/honors students clique.

I actually had quite a good high school experience, all things considered.

In my HS there were only a few cliques. I was in one, icon_razz.gif, but it wasn't that we were "exclusive" just we didn't have anything in common with the other cliques...

the cliques... as we jokingly termed them were:

    Common room crew - us
    n513945289_3048653_9370.jpg

lol that last day was terrrrrrible for dress (And hair - look at that mop)

Parkset - druggies constantly on something and doing it in the park behind the school.
    barrier boys - smokers etc
    S girls - prepsters
Studyset - 6th form study centre people - not geeks, they just chilled in there and made trouble *shrug* lol
Gym1's - guys obsessed with the gym, I didn't go as we didn't have showers and these guys seriously STANK.

and then the other people who filtered around.

I didn't really pay much thought to cliques apart from naming them with friends.

Well, I'm about to disappear too for a while, and I might as well say it here as email each of you individually.

I'm admitting myself to the hospital tomorrow morning. I don't know how long I'm going to have to remain there.

Please get well, and soon. Best thoughts and good vibes your way.

I wouldn't classify myself in any clique..cause I have a few friends in kind of each..I hate having a set group of friends, some people don't branch out.

It's not that bad though this year..well senior year since we have events and such that..well in the end help us meet new people, and I think generally most people don't care about cliques. I could be wrong though..lol

However we do have the "popular group of girls" that some people at school call, The Slutty Seven (theres more than 7 by the way)

I was part of an art magnet program back in O-High called Visual Arts Academy Magnet Program, or VAAMP for short. Yes, you can make fun of it. icon_sad.gif

From sophomore through our senior year majority, of my classmates have been together for we had Art classes (duh) and English courses together. We were a mixed group:

    The Popular Cheerleaders,
    Head Break-dancer,
    The Nerds,
    The Hoodlums,
    Some popular kids,
    Wallflowers,
and the Indifferent (that was me at the time!)

Boy did we get in each others nerves but we were cool with each other. This was my clique and our leader was our teacher Mrs. Broussard who loved us unconditionally. I love mixed crowds, lots of flavor in Life.

In high school I was in the "we moved here from out of town" clique. If you didn't have long standing family ties in that small town you were not accepted. I think I learned about diversity in that clique since we were definitely made up of all sorts. There were not many in that group that had the same interests we just liked hanging out because we accepted each other.

As far as Realjock cliques go I wouldn't have a clue. Maybe the closest thing is between the forum people and the chat room people which I only say because of that one thread from a few weeks back.

I was never in a clique in High School. I was the guy that never really fit into any of them, so I was alone mostly outside of the classroom. And yes, there are most certainly cliques on realjock. I see them all the time; Especially in the chat rooms. It's sad that there are cliques ONLINE lol

The friends I hung out with outside of school in addition to in the building in high school were other members of the Math Team. Most of us were also involved in the music programs. Almost all of us have graduate degrees by now. Take a wild guess what clique we were.

Then again, more than half of us also had varsity letters from actual sports teams. We were really just the generalized overachievers.

There may be cliques on RealJock in the chat room--I wouldn't really know. I don't see too many cliques in the forums.

I was a floater. I came from a small private Catholic school. Most of the kids in my HS came from two public junior highs. They knew each other from both schools from being public. Played basketball against each other, ect. When I got to HS, I knew no one except maybe 5 others that did not go to the Catholic HS. I started from ground zero.

But, I built a great group of friends. I was the intellectual as well as the jock, though I was not a jock in the normal sense. I wrestled and boxed, while most guys did track, football, and baseball. I was a jock like the dive team and swimmers were jocks. Not really jocks but close enough. It worked for me.

I went fom being the kid from the private school and not knowing anyone to being the kid that everyone knew. One, because several girls from my private school became very popular and they dragged me along. Thank you Debbie and Donna!!!!! I owe you both. And second, I was the guy that knocked out the school bully in round one of our fight. Thanks, Andy. It was a tough fight. It was my second fight back when they still had boxing in HS. I was lucky enough to KO the HS bully when he actually had to get in a ring. It made me the HS hero. Not sure why. He was a tough fucker, in and out of the ring. I will give him props. I would have beat him 3 out of 5. But he would have beat my ass 2 out of 5. One tough fucker. That guy was tough.

When I was in High School I was the musical theater guy. I was with the advance-ed kids so I guess I was a geek.

Here in RJ I am part of the old guys who act young (aka immature) group and proud of it!
But in the REAL world I am 180 degrees different...

Oooh! I'm in the non-white-washed-men-of-color clique!!! Oh wait, one person can't be a clique... Nevermind, carry on.
