Nature or Nuture (another thread with a surprisingly long title, most of which is totally irrelevant or should have been put in the main body of the post. But hey, who´s checking? OH and what sort of music do you think the guy above you likes?)

So I really want to know: Britney, Beyonce, Whitney, Mariah and whoever else. Is there a genetic predisposition in gay men to like their music or is it something that is nurtured by the culture.

Whitney's cool, Mariah is fine.. some of the rest... blah. Nothing is "imposed" on me.. I pretty much make my own decisions.

It's an expectation of the gay subculture, like all the stereotypes.

Ít may not have been a totally serious question, but continue anyway....

And I think Timberoo is a secret Mariah fan.

I like older Mariah Carey stuff. We actually share the same birthdate - day and year.

I'm a Kylie fan more than any other 'gay diva'. Her music makes me happy.

Definitely not a genetic predisposition to like certain types of music. There are gay guys that gravitate towards the softer more feminine side of things in music, friends, etc.. But as more guys admit they like other guys "THAT WAY" we will find that we truly are a rainbow of musical tastes. From head-bangers to EMO, from opera queens to diva lovers.

I personally like a wide range of music. On the popular music side of things I like so-called "alternative" modern rock the best.

I was a Whitney/Mariah guy back in the day when they first hit the music scene. Today, I am starting to follow Lady Gaga. Discovered her (rather late) via NEWNOWNEXT from Logo's music videos.

Well, out of the choices, I'd say I only like Beyonce - her recent album. Otherwise, I'm not that into Pop or R&B.

OMG! I love her shameless pandering to her target audience. I think the only straight people I know who have any idea who Kylie is are the girls I went to high school with. They are usually shocked when confronted with the fact that she did anything after Locomotion.icon_lol.gif
