I've never been to one. I should probably go at least once. Then I can earn my gay merit badge. icon_lol.gif

I was invited back to Chicago to see my friend, and she wants me to come either Memorial Day Weekend or Pride week/day(?). My concern is, being mildly out of the closet and not super comfortable yet, it might be a little intimidating.

Btw, do all the major cities have Pride stuff around the same time?

Don't sweat it. It's just a big parade and street party... and most people there are gay. But not everyone. With 100,000 people there, it's not like you'll be outed.

Yeah, it'll be a little bit intimidating at first... but then you'll get comfortable and love it!

I find pride events to be very awkward. If I went with a couple people it would probably be enjoyable. But, I hang out with a lot of straight people and gay older guys/lesbos - they've had their fill of parades.

I'd like to, but I don't have any friends that would want to go with me.icon_rolleyes.gif

I went to a couple pride events. They were just a big headache, and it seemed like a whole lot of people making spectacles of themselves. I would rather just go to the park with some buddies and toss around a frizbee.

More worried about seeing drag queens and men in thongs. Think I would freeze up or get really uncomfortable. I've never been exposed to that scene. I've been to one gay bar, and to be honest, it didn't seem out of the ordinary at all. This parade would be different.

Not really. For every leather daddy or drag queen you see, you'll also see hundreds of "normal" people who are just like you.
