This thread is inspired by one of the episodes of "FRIENDS" where Joey cancelled on his "mock date" with Phoebe 'cos he just got a bootie call. Translating to real life, do you have a pre-agreement that when such single friends manage to get a hook-up that conflicts with a planned get-together (be it a dinner, drinks, party, etc.), you'd just let them get away with it scath-free 'cos the same would be observed with you if it were you who "got lucky"? Has anyone been in this situation before?

In polite civilized society, when one accepts an invitation, it is absolutely forbidden to cancel in order to entertain a subsequent "better" offer.

Polite society? Who ever said gays were polite? Gays invented the "ME" generation, not to mention being the rudest group I have ever encountered in my life.

Don't get me wrong, I like gay company, but I'm also a realist. The LAST thing most gay men can be is considerate of others. They are chronically late, stand you up, blow-off commitments, and lack any concept of personal responsibility.

So gay friends canceling at the last moment is par for the course. Doing it for the purpose of a hook-up is rather better than most reasons. "My cat wasn't looking well," or "I ran into so many red lights I just turned around and went home" are more typical, if they even bother to give you any excuse at all. Learn to get over it, and chalk it up to the price of doing business with gays.
