I just had a sebaceous cyst removed from my scalp. Not a big deal really. It was just a simple a outpatient procedure but they said not to do strenous exercise for 2 weeks. I am on a roll with my workouts and really dont want to lose momentum being out for 2 weeks. Anyone had a similar issue and what did you do?

It's best to follow doctors' orders! You'll find your momentum again. Taking time off is actually a good way to jumpstart your workouts again. Think of it as a blessing in disguise.

Thanks I guess you are right. I am going to see him for a follow up in about a week and maybe at that time If he feels I am doing great he will give me a status update.

I guess it's not bad to take a break. The desire is there already. I just need to nurture it till I get back in the gym.

I have been doing leisurely walking but nothing heart pounding. Just as a way to keep active.

    Thanks alot

Your restrictions seem excessive for the procedure you had. A lot times the discharge orders go over board because of malpractice concerns. If you want to exercise aggressively, I would call the surgeon. Tell him what you want to do and see if he will change the recommendations. Of course follow the current recommendations until you speak with him.

Yeah, I agree that was my initial reaction. All I had was a simple cyst on my scalp. They didnt even give me a full anthestic, just a local .
I may do that and call them. I called the surgeon's office before the surgery and I got a desk jockey who said yes 2 weeks. I have to call back for a follow up appointment 7 days post surgery. I need to that like today! When I do, I will go back and ask about what can i really do. I understand that they dont want me to do serious weightlifting but I dont see the harm in doing a light impact elliptical, or treadmill routine.

I have been doing a few things at work that are light impact already. I walk at lunch and I chose to do most of my desk work standing up not sitting down , several hours of it in fact. That really helps as well without being strenuous.
